I've got it sorted lads.

A team of 15 can only have one player in their own half at any one time (including goalkeeper). Any team that is found to infringe this rule automatically gives away a penalty.

Should lead to loads of goals and no defensive football.

weren't in the years between 1994 and the early 2000s
when the game was b****rdised. Its not about adapting
its about the game going back to being more open or
remaining a poorer spectacle than it once was."
The game naturally became tactically aware, this happens in any team activity, like we seen in Soccer, Rugby, American Football etc.

If you put 11 men or 15 men on a pitch to represent the paying public, representing the area those members come from, most fans above all else want their team to win. Yes the want to receive plaudits and praise for how they play, about how good they are. But ultimately they will settle for the trophy.

I say let the game evolve within the current set of rules, and if we have see significant evidence that the sport is starting to suffer as a result of being tactically aware, maybe then we can look at dumbing it down again.

kickouts today are brilliant, to be able to pick a guy out moving at speed and put it into his chest is an art in itself"
A lot of kickouts are not as you describe, many are tapping the ball off the tee to an unmarked defender 15 meters away who then looks around and handpasses it on to another unmarked defender a few more meters away. Kicking the ball off the ground is a skill in its self. I know of a club player who years ago could not get on underage teams half the time when he was growing up (When taking kickouts a large percentage of the time he got hard to raise the ball more than 2 meters above the ground. ) When the kicking tee came in he became a mainstay goal keeper of the adult team.

Look, you only need to make two changes to football to make it popular with the masses. One rule change , one cosmetic change.
Rule change -: disallow use of the hands to play the football.
Cosmetic change-: Cut the goalposts off at crossbar height.
A chainsaw and a rule change that's all it takes.

Replying To Whammo86:  "They trialled limiting the number of hand passes. It was apparently a disaster with players just playing short kick passes instead.

Teams have just realised how important possession is and don't give the ball away needlessly.

Nothing wrong with fist passing anyway. Check out Donegals goals versus Fermanagh (even though the second shouldn't have counted). Those were great hand passing moves, taking the blanket defence to shreds.

I really don't think the rules are the problem. If teams want to be defensive they'll be defensive. There are plenty of teams who aren't particularly defensive."
I think I can remember something about it being trialed in the league in the mid 1990's (can anyone remember?), I think it was stopped not because it was a disaster but because managers did not like it as they felt it took some players out of their comfort zone. Players would not be able to flick short kicks around remotely as easily as they do hand passes, they would have to change tactics as I just can't see the current tactics being as effective if handpasses were limited by a fair bit.

That sounds like it could take off
