Tipperary v Limerick

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Countdown is on for the fifth munster semi final in a row between these rivals with the score at 2 a piece. Tipp are hot favourites but that hasn't meant much in this fixture in the past. There's a mixture of optimisation and pessimism on the limerick forum so im curious if any neutrals give us a chance? I think we have the players but not the direction..

morning blackspot - im a bit fearful to be honest but at the same time its within us to come out with fire and passion and perform - one worry is that will will likely have 5/6 championship debutants so it will be inexperienced side - so i hope we perform and that those lads are stronger for the experience, mind you all the potential debutants have been playing well in county championship

hope we do it - hope we bring a big crowd -i think we will despoite what some dublin posters are saying on another forum we do have good support with not a lot to show for it

Good luck to both limerick teams on sunday

Lets face it - it would be a massive shock if Limerick beat Tipp, Limerick have regressed and even if we play well Tipp should still be 5+ points too strong

Cheers lads. I was hoping for some neutral views but I forgot hoganstand is just a football forum. :(

Tipp for me and hoganstand caters for both hurling and football.

It does, its not the sites fault, but not nearly as much hurling fans come on the main forum. Nothing against football fans, I wish there was more hurling discussions like the football!

Can I ask the Limerick lads if the following is true...

Shane Dowling on the verge or has already left the panel...

Richie McCarthy being replaced at full back by some fella surname Morrissey. Not sure of first name. Is that fellow from Ahane?

Think this will b close game if Limerick backs get physical with Tipp I'd give ye a shout.
Bar Seamie all other forwards shy away from the physical stakes.

Hadn't heard of dowling leaving panel but I know he's struggling for his place and yes dan Morrissey, older brother of Tom has been rumoured to start full back as he's impressed there for ahane. I hope not though as I'd fear for him against seamie but Ritchie is a man that could rise to the challenge!

I'm going for Limerick to win this one, I think it will be tight and let's face it Tipp don't win tight games. We had our foot on Cork throats and couldn't put them away like KK would of, instead we let them get back in touching distance. Limerick will not roll over to easy and will love the idea of Tipp been red hot favourites

Potentially of course Limerick could win this. They've little or no form coming in off the league & even with NAP's All-Ireland win didn't carry a feel-good factor for very long in the county. They've been quiet since the league & are definitely due a big performance. They looked tactically inept in the league semi-final but Tipp aren't the finished article yet so who knows, anything could happen.

Would love a limerick victory, but I think long term tipp/Waterford Munster final would be a better game. Reckon Tipp have the firepower for Sunday, still think they're lacking the steel they had during the the sheedy era. Either way I'm hoping for a cracking game on Sunday.

Thanks blackspot91 I hear that their is some gripe with the Na Piarshaig players on the panel in general. Many feel Dowling is only there to take frees. All could be rumour but working here in Limerick a lot of negative talk about the camp. I get the feeling Na Piarshaig are not well liked within the county. Would that be a true statement? I know ye played Waterford in a challenge recently how did ye get on just out of interest?

I would be amazed if Limerick won this game. The rumours of changes, particularly to the full-back position, are incredible if true when you consider how little experimentation was done there during the league. As far as I can see from Limerick they played a system and picked players on a fairly consistent basis in the league and it never really worked. If it all changes now for championship, you would have to question what is the story with the mgt!?

What's the problem with S Dowling?Personnally,i always thought he was a bit lazy.Lovely free taker and striker f the ball, but a little lacking in the physical stakes.

No love lost between Limerick and Tipp.I expect a tough game with Tipp winning by at least 4 in the end.

He has been outstanding at times particularly in 2014 when he pretty much won the game against tipp on his own, was our best forward against cork in the final, destroyed wexford and gave JJ delaney serious problems in the semi. when you say physical i assume you mean workrate/speed because hes a big strong man whos good in the air. but i see your point, hes been poor with limerick since 2014 and pretty average for club. but at hes best hes certainly an asset!
