Neil McGee sending off

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Pretty simple question to the Donegal fans out there, or anyone else who can answer for that matter!
What happened to this man's play? When did being the hardest man on the pitch become more important to him than being the best defender on the pitch?
2 matches this year so far I've seen him be sent off for striking.
I actually can't remember another player getting 2 for striking in a summer, if anyone knows another throw it out

He's no good to anyone on the sideline, he's supposed to be a leader and he's acting like a teenager.

In my personal opinion he's not at the level he was at in 2012 he can shackle lower level forwards surely but when he meets the big guys he gets torched

Looked like he lashed out in anger/frustration and as Ye said he's no good to his team on the sideline.

It hasn't done them much harm so far.

A nasty elbow, it happens.
Red card, 2 game ban or whatever.
Move on.

Nothing said about that second goal the Donegal scorer foot was clearly in the square when ball was passed and arrived he was standing there the whole time.
bad call

Thought the same myself in real time and the replay confirmed it. Pivotal moment in the game and the ref / umpires got it wrong again. We'll see if the analysts say anything about it.

Micheal Lyster should get a red for that suit.

Mournearmy it shouldn't happen though, what example is that for a kid watching the match!?
I'm all for hard play and endeavour I don't think that includes a 30 year old man having a hissy fit and lashing out with his elbow though.

I know if I'm playing Donegal if I pull and haul and taunt Mc Gee all day he's going to crack at some point, 15 v 14 won't be much use against the better teams (Fermanagh are better than they showed today I will say though)

Silly thing to do but such is life.

Take the ban & move on.

Try to keep up lads. The square ball rule was changed.

A Tyrone fan going all Maud Flanders on us, I've heard it all now. Deserved sending off and a ban, life goes on.

We know that
Like I said if you read he was guilty on both counts
He stood in the square before the pass and ball stone wall square ball whatever rule you want to go by old or present

You still can't be in the square before the ball is played.

Definitely deserved to get sent off and will be sorely missed the next day out against Monaghan as he would normally pick up McManus. It seemed to be the actions of a frustrated man. To be honest the discipline of the Donegal players has diminished since Jim left. I don't think Neil McGee ever got sent off in JMcG's four years in charge.

Discipline wouldn't be a problem if McGuinness was the boss

Yes,it was a right nasty, dangerous elbow that could have done a nice bit of damage to the mouth and teeth.I didn't like the Donegal players pleading with the referee.McGee is losing a wee bit of respect with this carry on.

Poor challenge but let's not go over the top. there will be worse challenges over the summer. Defo a square ball....old rule or new rule.

Just before everyone starts sticking the boot in here lets spare a thought tonight for a guy who'd give his life to wear a donegal jersey & is now going to have to miss out on an ulster championship, something he's devoted the last six months of his life to prepare for. A rush of blood that i'm sure he'd give anything to take back but still an all star full back and rightly so. I'm not part of any fan club but lets not get carried away slating a great gaa player who did bad in the heat of battle
