Ah no we have not tats a total lie. The only final I remember us being totally outnumbered was against Roscommon in 2011 during the worst weather I have ever witnessed with many fans having to turn back halfway. 2011 - Roscommon in Hyde had more fans. 2012 - Mayo v Sligo - we outnumbered Sligo in Hyde. 2013 - Mayo v London - we naturally had the most fans 2014 - Mayo v Galway - We outnumered Galway at home but this is nothing new (happens away too). 2015 - Mayo v Sligo in hyde park - We had more fans. We also bring the most fans to London and NY by far. yew_tree (Mayo) - Posts: 11232 - 16/06/2016 10:45:11 1867571 Link 0 |
Hard to match Limerick in the hurling. Cork also and Waterford are generally good too. tiobraid (Tipperary) - Posts: 4119 - 16/06/2016 11:01:50 1867583 Link 0 |
Obviously the big counties population wise will get a good following especially if they are playing well/winning games. intothemixer (UK) - Posts: 9 - 16/06/2016 13:09:27 1867662 Link 0 |
+1 The only game that I can remember in the past five years or so where we were conclusively outnumbered was the All-Ireland final against Donegal in 2012. Indeed, we regularly outnumber counties such as Galway and Cork in their own grounds. Gleebo (Mayo) - Posts: 2208 - 16/06/2016 14:25:38 1867689 Link 0 |
Your talking utter rubbish sligo outnumbered mayo in 2012 and even more so in 15. The reason mayo did not turn up in 11 was not because of the weather the have turned up in as bad weather conditions but because it was the only game in Connacht in the last six years where mayo were underdogs if only slighly. A lot of people go to London and NYC for a p up and a match is an afterthought.
