You might just want to look up the meaning of the word neutral

I've been one of the biggest fans of McManus on here for a long time , for me the most impressive forward playing ,bit like the gooch or Peter debates there isn't really a right or right answer ,
Mcmanus is more selfless , Connolly is ridiculously talented, would make for interesting viewing if both players swapped teams for a few games would also go a long way to solving this argument , as that won't happen we should enjoy both great players of there generation.

Exactly Damo.I dont like these threads comparing players.I couldnt decide which one of Gooch or Canavan were better and just said they were the two greatest forwards overvthe last 15-20 years.Same with these guys. Two top players.Different attributes.Different teams.

Can you imagine if McManus played for Dublin with the amount of possession we enjoy. There would be less pressure on him because he would have five other forwards to pick up the slack. If he received the same amount of service as B Brogan?I think the scoreboard would overheat with the tallies he'd notch up.

Taking into account temperament and work ethic, McManus is better

In ideal world, I'd have both, but if I had to choose, I'd take McManus. Connolly is a great footballer, a complete natural and great to watch, but McManus is the best forward in the country, imo. He isn't surrounded by the quality that Connolly is surrounded by, and has often carried Monaghan, getting outageous scores from all angles, while being double or even triple marked. Imagine the damage he'd do if he were on a Dublin, Kerry or Mayo team.

If Connolly is given the space he will destroy you but McManus seems to make his own space. A better comparison would be Brogan in his pomp and McManus. Would love if any of them could play for us!!!

Conor MC Manus is a great. Might be better than the Gooch or Canavan They played on better teams than MC Manus has been doing He would be the ideal no 15 for Donegal alongside Murphy and McBrearty

Lads there is no way you can compare, they have to different roles to play.

Conor McManus is the marquee forward for Monaghan. He is 'obliged' to get the majority of their scores. So has to be a scoring machine, and is, and his talent is without question.

Connolly does not have to be a scoring machine. He is part of a hugely talented unit. His role is different. Hold up ball and lay it off (watch his last 15 minutes in the 2011 Final, nearly everything went through him) or when the pressure is on pull off a couple of rallying scores like Saturday night.

Conor has a bad day Monaghan are beaten. Connolly has a bad day Dublin are not.

So who is the better player..........jesus lads not even God himself could anwser you.

Both are fantastic players but they are different & not directly comparable

McManus is a pure scoring machine wheras Connolly gets more involved in general play. This is to a degree dictated by the players & setup round them but both are a joy to watch & we are lucky to have them.

That's just ridiculous my friend! He is not in either of there ball park yet.

People on trying to slight him by saying he dives. Why is there always someone trying to tarnish his name. I'm no fan of monaghan but this guy is a class player. every forward knows when to go down when challenged, I would not class him as a forward who goes down easy at all!

Connolly for me. Has played in and done it in major finals for club and county. I am not saying McManus can not do it on a final day but I have not seen him yet so Connolly get's the nod for me.

As said before on here McManus is more of a Bernard Brogan-type player. He plays further forward and usually only takes a few touches and bangs it over the bar. Connolly is also a play-maker as well as a score-taker. He usually covers more ground out the field than McManus. Who would I rather have for Cavan ? probably Mcmanus ; a forward who can win his own ball, can score from any angle and is a consistent and reliable free-taker and also has a cool temperment. however having said that I think Connolly is a more skillful footballer and can link the play better. basically I don't know :(.
