If Tony Kelly plays well then Clare do well. This fact has shone out over the past 5 years whether at U21 or senior. Opposition find him very difficult to shackle when he is given any space at all so he is double marked on most occasions. Even with double marking most teams can't get to grips with Kelly as he finds the couple of inches necessary to excel. However the Clare set up yesterday just played into Waterfords hand as it meant that kelly was completely crowded out every time he got on the ball as he was surrounded by not just about five or six Waterford players but also five or six Clare players thereby ensuring he had no chance of opening up. dingle2 (Kerry) - Posts: 278 - 06/06/2016 10:57:09 1862078 Link 0 |
A little bit harsh with Galway there, they have their moments. Unfortunately I agree with you about Tipp, we definitely lack the killer instinct. From what you are saying it sounds like you think the championship is very open and I'd agree with that. With nobody standing out its perfectly teed up for another Kilkenny win in second gear. I do like the look of Waterford though. Killarney.87 (Tipperary) - Posts: 2513 - 06/06/2016 18:34:16 1862388 Link 0 |
Yes think you're right Kilkenny probably be there or thereabouts without being exceptional and Waterford also. Tipperary have the players and skill levels, if they could just get that mentality of finishing off a team when they are down they could walk it this year. Also not being biased I don't believe Wexford are anywhere near as poor as being made out, lacking confidence but one big win could get them right back in it.

Yeah it's an epidemic that has invaded Tipp hurling. The consolation is that at least the Tipp players entertain even when they lose. Callanan's performance against Galway last year was phenomenal. I'm not sure about Wexford, they seem to have regressed. But if Dublin put in a performance or beat Kilkenny on Saturday it will help prove your theory. Wexford seemed to throw in the towel after Dillon's goal, that was disappointing because McDonald had scored a great morale lifting point just before the goal. Absolutely Killarney,i think Tipp have played some of the best hurling i've ever seen since 2009.Ok,they haven't translated that into enough Liam McCarthy cups, but they have been so close to winning it more than once in that time.Four Munster finals, including the seven goal demolition of Waterford, and one memorable All Ireland, preventing the greatest ever team of winning theimmortal five-in-a-row,playing an open, skillfull game of hurling,is no mean achievement.A Hawkeye call away from another. In my opinion,a lot of the criticism of Tipp is unwarranted.Obviously,i'm a bit biased, but win, lose or draw,Tipp rarely fail to entertain.
