Replying To Dellboypolecat:  "But umpire never lifted flag am amazed why Hawkeye was not used it was a good score .quarter of a million spent on it and they could not call it"
My thoughts as well, seemed over and couldn't understand why didn't use hawkeye, it's what it's there for. But yes, no flag raised. If remember back to 2010, Sludden told his umpire to put the green flag up, that didn't happen yesterday so there was no signal there was a score so you have to take it that it didn't count.

I was sitting behind the shot in question and it was not over, ref did consult with linesman but he said it wasn't a point, ref didn't make a mark in his book. Therefore that point was never in the refs book.

I was talking to a few fellas this morning who were at the game and who would be quite heavily involved with the Antrim club scene. They were both of the strong opinion that the result should stand. Even if technically they may be entitled Antrim won't gain any friends by yapping about replays.

Don't know how you managed that. David end wasn't open yesterday. But your correct didn't see the ref consult with umpires, so that score wasn't given.

That is strange behind that goal was closed and I know ref did not give it but it was a point

If the ref is unsure about the score then a replay may be on the cards.

Would be tough on Meath who really played well.

It's taking away from the fact the Antrim were crap all over the pitch and most of them looked like they had just picked up a hurl for the first time yesterday. Antrim's skill levels, stickwork, stamina and fitness all looked very, very poor.

So a replay looks on the cards.

I was at the game - really enjoyed the last 10 mins..... Antrim played as individuals, Meath as a team..... Antrim felt with 10mins to go that they had won it and had nothing to do...
Meath battled away and fair play to them..... but the referee made the big mistake of looking at the scoreboard and not the scorecard....
Antrim unfortunately should object, I remember there was concerns about the Westmeath v Down Christ Ring Cup final when the referee blew the game up early..... Down didn't object, the rest is history , Down never really recovered

Ah sure that's the problem in Antrim....too many of the heavily involved club lads don't give a damn about the county. They seem to begrudgingly don the jersey instead of wear it with pride.

Before you discredit Brian_Coyote did he not say he was behind the shot - not behind the goal?

Regardless of how you thought they played Ulsterman you should at least be demanding fairness for your county players. That's not too much to ask in any sport.....not too much at all.

If Antrim object and it turns out that the game actually ended as a draw then I'd be happy for the game to be replayed but the Gaa shouldn't act like cowards and dump this on our doorstep like they did in 2010. Order a replay if they can and if they can't then the rules must change so that they can order replays under certain circumstances.

The ref has stated in his match report he made mistake with score .both teams should be promoted and leave it at that no point handing someone a trophy then taking it back #farce

Under the rule 6.2 6.4 if video evidence is proven they would be a replay over a score .but if I where croke park I would tell both teams your promoted and leave it be .No point handing someone a trophy and taking it back

If the GAA do decide to replay the Meath Antrim match it could be slotted in before the Kilkenny v Dublin in Portlaoise although that's a bit out of the way for both teams. As for 'big ball' Ulsterman focus on getting the footballers up the rankings rather than wishing the hurlers would go downwards to meet the poor football standard.

Totally agree, if it was a draw then GAA HQ order a replay, hard on the Meath hurlers but so be it, if they cant order replay then let result stand, do not, I repeat do not put this a meaths door again. Its not our problem if a ref/scoreboard / or whatever makes a mistake. Do not say its up to Meath to offer a replay, if they haven't changed this law since 10 then to hell with them.

Problem is if the ref made a mistake we surely cannot have a replay? If thats the case we could have a lot of replays...

I didn't see the game and I haven't watched it back, and I don't know the rules regarding disputed scores. Nonetheless, I'm going to weigh in.

1) If the ref lost his pencil, he should have stopped the game and found one, or a pen, or a quill and an inkwell; anything that would have let him continue noting the scores. As I said, I don't know the rules, and I'm not going to download them (this time) but I'm pretty sure that one of his jobs is to track the score, and if he can't do that due to a missing writing instrument and he chooses not to replace it, he shouldn't be let referee a game again. Anywhere.

2) What were the people in charge of the scoreboards in both TG4 and Croke Park up to? Don't they understand the game? Don't they know when a score has and hasn't been awarded? But it seems they blew it indeed (or maybe one copied the other), because evidently the result in press room was a unanimous draw. I can't understand how anyone could get it wrong. A point is a point when someone scores a point, and if it's not a point then it's not a point. And if, say, a point happens 17 times in a game for one team, then that team scores 17 points. Do the same for goals, and there's your final score. Surely it's not difficult. If a team has 1-17 (or whatever it was) and they get a point, then they're on 1-18. And the other team's score doesn't change.

3) There's Antrim men on here saying the ref gave it as a win to Meath, they have the trophy, let it stay that way, we're not going to protest. And while that's admirable, it doesn't remove the fact that an injustice was done. I don't know whether a replay can happen only by Antrim appealing, or whether some committee on high can order it, but if the latter option does not exist, then it's high time it did. I don't know if it would have helped Louth in that Leinster football final against Meath because that was the ref awarding a score (and no confusion over whether or not he did), but it would fast-track decisions like what to do about yesterday's game.

Finally, as an aside, and I know this didn't happen, but imagine if the ref gave it a draw but everyone knew it was a win for one team. Would a replay be fair? During the 2006 Australian Football League season, Fremantle led St Kilda by a point, 94 to 93. The siren went, but the umpires didn't hear it and St Kilda got an equaliser, and the game ended on 94 each. It was appealed. The result was changed to 94-93. This was the right thing; if it had been a GAA game it would have been replayed.
