no offence to the cats but aint it nice that there is a major all ireland available for the rest of us, also great either carlow or offaly will be in a leinster final - big boost for hurling is those counties."
Are Limerick not the reigning U-21 champions?!

Take a chill pill. I think he meant he was sick of the homecomings not the team!

Fantastic result for hurling and Westmeath........... They are a shining example to weaker counties.

That being said Leinster counties have been relatively weak at under 21 level in recent times. KK was the last Leinster team to win it in 2008 (although Galway won it in 2011). I think we are starting to see the effect of this now with the strength in Munster at senior level.....

Great to see.

Westmeath have been making serious strides underage and doing a lot of work on the hurling side. No doubt the GAA will prioritise hurling in weaker counties like Westmeath who are showing progress and class them as a special case with funding set aside to help them develop like they done with Dublin under Berties handshake agreement

They will wont they???!!!!!

Brilliant for Westmeath and hurling in general and on reflection not a huge suprise and was coming anyway due to the hard work being put into hurling.
Coming from a place where we're well used to crisis, does this constitute a mini crisis in KK considering their minors crashed out to Dublin??
More likely some lads from these sides will get onto the conveyor and will have multiple senior medals by 2020...
Eddie it seems will have to stick to the day job, although I like him as a pundit. Bit like Gary Neville I suppose...

Great result for Westmeath and hurling in general. Work and effort needs to be put in these lads and the ones coming behind them (there is an exceptional group of lads at U15 level) and hopefully in years to come we wont have to be worrying about division2 'playoffs' - Hopefully Westmeath board will now see fit to get behind the hurlers in at least an equal way as the footballers who have had serious resources pumped into them over the last 10/15 years and 3 years straight relegation to Division 4 toshow for it - the future for Westmeath is hurling ;) iarmhiabú

Before people start talking about Kilkenny "going away" they are the All-Ireland champions, favourites, and the last time they "went away" they came back and have dominated the game since.
Rumours of their demise are greatly exaggerated.....

TearinTom you make a good point: Those counties like Westmeath that show they are willing to help themselves up the ladder should be rewarded with financial help from the GAA. Counties that are happy to sit and wait on hand outs should be ignored. Tell me this when the media discuss hurling teams they talk about 'weaker counties' yet when they discuss football teams they talk about 'perceived weaker counties', why cant they also be called 'weaker counties' or the hurlers called 'perceived weaker counties'.

Logan'sRedHelmet, you said "Kilkenny were the last Leinster team to win the U21 All Ireland...although Galway won it in 2011". What relevance have Galway got to subject? Galway are not a Leinster team. We don't play in Leinster at U21 level.

Congratulations to Westmeath. I'm delighted for them. Hope they go on to win Leinster now. Wouldn't it be great....a Westmeath vs Carlow Leinster U21 final. Would love to see it!

I can tell you what words to describe Louth supporters after the Leinster final in 2010: Sick, robbed and gutted.

Time to demote Kilkenny to the Junior ranks - if so, it has to be done before "it's too late" ?

Even Kilkenny fans were eventually going to get sick of the Kilkenny team too. But I'm sure they will eventually win John and his mate over again.

I'm not lecturing anyone. Most counties would love a homecoming to welcome their team who had just won a senior All Ireland title. To hear a lad say he was "sick of homecomings" turned my stomach. A good spell without a senior All Ireland title might just se him look forward to the next homecoming.

Well I would have to say, if Wexford were winning All-Irelands and I was getting sick of homecomings I would not give one bit of a toss what anybody thought of that!!
