Galway vs Mayo Hard Battle

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

After a tough aul day watching Ireland getting beaten by Belgium, Galway were a breath of fresh air tonight. Intensity, tactical awareness, courage; a lot of quality shown tonight and I'd fancy them to beat Roscommon as I think they'll have too much guile as long as they perform strongly again. Mayo were like a team who are too long on the road there tonight dare I say it. Long road ahead for them via the scenic route for a change. Still a dangerous opponent though and expect to see them at the latter stages.

Well done Galway... hungrier team and knew their system a lot better than our lads. Cue the sacking of the managers last year tirade. Mayo were undercooked today and a lot of players up front showed very little nous. The backdoor has never served Mayo well. The Connacht final will be interesting.

Great win for Galway , Mayo were so flat all game but I'm telling you don't write them off they'll be back, why the Mayo manager keeps playing players that have been found out in a million big games I'll never know , I don't care if Diarmud was carrying an injury he was fit enough to come on he should of started he's the reason I fancy Mayo to go far this year he's there game changer. The amount of keepers who keep going short and messing up is unbelievable I'm sorry but there's only one Stephen Cluxton. Anyway well done Galway your full back is an animal and it's good to have a new winner out west but I'm telling you Mayo will be back.

Well done Galway, brilliant victory. Delighted to see you back at the top table. It's a big surprise but it shouldn't be. Mayo dident actually set the world on fire in the league. Galway did better in division 2. I think league form is rolling on into the championship this year. My argument being that teams that did very well in division 2 are in a better place than teams that just hung on in division 1. It all makes sense.

As usual Mayo's so called Marquee forward kicked wides when the pressure was really on. Will the players demand that Rochfort is sacked?

Actually he was kicking wides all day, even when they were winning. He is a class player, but keep posting stupid mince.

Cillian o Connor is a brilliant free taker, but as usual carries nothing from play

Wow, this really makes the championship interesting, the qualifiers and likely quater finals are going to be a rats nest.

There's more chance of another shock in Munster than there being one in Leinster!

Don't want to kick Mayo when they are down but they were beaten by a much hungrier team tonight and the scoreline flattered them. Galway were nervous at the start and kicked some bad wides.
Its all well and good Aidan O'Shea scoring 3-4 against a Sligo team who were probably still celebrating beating Roscommon last year but when he needed to lift the team against Dublin both days and today against Galway, he was found wanting.
The qualifiers haven't been good to them over the years but I still think they'll be around in August unless they get an away draw in Ulster.
Roscommon completely underestimated Sligo last year and even New York this year and I don't think they'll make that mistake again against Galway but how will the favourites tag affect them?
