Is there a bit of trouble about a tweet critical of the manger over the weekend? One of the Mahers drawn into it? kavvie (Clare) - Posts: 505 - 11/05/2016 13:28:13 1854005 Link 0 |
sounds like a bit of recklessness from Maher's club. himself and Paddy Stapleton have distanced themselves from the comments but you have to wonder what's happening in general with that one. perhaps someone from Tipp knows more SaffronDon (Antrim) - Posts: 2391 - 11/05/2016 13:38:39 1854016 Link 0 |
Looked to me like a disgruntled clubman venting his anger at the unavailability of Tipp's senior county hurlers to his own club - this case being Borrisleigh.Storm in a teacup i'd say. cuederocket (Dublin) - Posts: 5084 - 11/05/2016 13:48:15 1854024 Link 0 |
If you ask me this is being done by county managers every where. The club scene and club hurlers are getting a raw deal every yr. Training all yr to play 3 games in 2 wks then off for a number of months then back at it in the winter and play every wkend until you get knocked out. No consideration for clubs that get injuries or lads away. The county hurling is running the club scene. The inter county championship needs to be condensed. Play the first round on the first wkend of July and games every 2 wks after that. Some teams which lose may have to play on consecutive wkends but tough. Play leinster/munster championship on either sat/sun on the wkends the fixtures are on. Finish the league 2 wk earlier. By doing this counties would have all of April and may and maybe 2wk in June to play club games. The championships would nearly be all over by that stage. gimp2 (Galway) - Posts: 70 - 11/05/2016 13:53:40 1854028 Link 0 |

Yeah, it's not a problem within the Tipperary inter-county camp. Killarney.87 (Tipperary) - Posts: 2513 - 14/05/2016 18:25:56 1854926 Link 0 |
id rather see the players calling the inter county managers bluff and line out for their clubs instead of issuing an ultimatum. joncarter (Galway) - Posts: 2692 - 14/05/2016 19:06:42 1854940 Link 0 |

Wildpundit,are you saying the Tipp U21/Intermediate selection beat Tipps seniors?I didnt realise the U21s were that good! cuederocket (Dublin) - Posts: 5084 - 17/05/2016 19:56:32 1855801 Link 0 |

Yes id agree that Tipp v Cork games are normally 50/50.In saying that,Tipp have been quite dominant in their recent games : think Tipp have won 7/8 of their last championship meetings(something like that). cuederocket (Dublin) - Posts: 5084 - 18/05/2016 12:40:13 1855959 Link 0 |
Cuederocket you may think Im a negative aul biddy now but Tipps forward haven't been great this year. Even in the league we showed no threat and shooting 18 wides against Clare was criminal given they went on to beat Kilkenny and win the league after that just shows you must take your chances on the day. We had Clare bate that day in Ennis and were just waiting for the final whistle to blow and Clare hit us for 1-02 without reply. Given that we still had 3 chances to win the game to Clare's none in that period. WildPundit (Tipperary) - Posts: 1709 - 18/05/2016 15:04:22 1856054 Link 0 |
Wildpundit,im hearing from my sources that there will be a change in the goalkeeping position.I rate Gleeson so that would be another blow. cuederocket (Dublin) - Posts: 5084 - 19/05/2016 10:36:49 1856270 Link 0 |
I think they will do well to get 20,000 at the game, Cork's morale is on the floor and whilst Tipp are not the finished article they should be far too good for Cork. corkcelt (Cork) - Posts: 4388 - 19/05/2016 11:02:28 1856282 Link 0 |
This is a huge test for Tipp considering what has gone on. There's a good chance whatever goalie we select will have no intercounty experience. Huge mistake not to alternate keepers in the league and now there is the prospect Gleeson might be gone from the panel. We have the likes of Bergin and Callinan with little or no league playing time either. Bookies are well wide of the mark with their odds I think tiobraid (Tipperary) - Posts: 4119 - 19/05/2016 15:41:16 1856440 Link 0 |
Tiobraid,i think it's correct that Tipp are favourites.Tipp may have some problems but Cork have not been setting the world alight. cuederocket (Dublin) - Posts: 5084 - 19/05/2016 16:29:21 1856477 Link 0 |
Yes, I'd have to agree with all your points. I think our full backline in particular is top class and think we only let in one goal in the chsip last year and we wouldnt be called a defensive team. tiobraid (Tipperary) - Posts: 4119 - 19/05/2016 16:51:07 1856491 Link 0 |
