Bernard Brogan appreciation thread

A measure of the great sport stars is how they perform at highest level and on the biggest stages. In all 3 AI finals , he hit some great scores and same in most of the SFs he has played in. When we lost SF to Cork back in 2010, BB was Dublin's stand out player with some super scores. Again yesterday he oozed class and is most definitely a great of the current era players. Great to be around to see him play.

An excellent footballer and a great ambassador for the game. Agree that his movement is probably the best in the game. It gives him the couple of yards needed to gain possession and then he barely needs a look at the posts, left or right foot and it's over the bar. He will be a huge loss to Dublin when he hangs up the boots.

He'll be a massive loss but with the likes of Mannion and Costello to take over the reigns we'll be ok (I hope!)

The only thing I would disagree with in that statement it the "probably" part. Class act, spent a good bit of the first half yesterday watching his runs off the ball, would be great for any young forward to study him, although I'm not sure if that movement can be taught or is it all instinct.

benched, I think it's 90% instinct. I'm trying to coach better movement into our team. Some have it already, most have difficulty, but there are a handful who it eventually clicks with, so it's worthwhile persevering

Yeah Mannion and Costelloe have massive potential but they've a good bit to go yet to be considered at Bernard's level. With experience they'll maybe develop the nous that Brogan so regularly shows.

Hopefully Brogan has a few more years in him so they can learn from him and we don't have to face the loss of him too soon!

Brogan was a late started and injury blighted his early career.

I don't see him going anywhere for a number of years and if he's lucky with injuries and is man managed properly, he could go onto have a P Joyce like career IMO. Alan was very unlucky with that injury and there's no doubt that it took a couple of season away from him. If Bernard can avoid such I can see him going to end of this decade at the very least.

I had the pleasure of being seated near the 14 yard line,Canal End side in first half where i had a great view of Bernard's three points.I think he only touched the ball once in the first 20 minutes but once he got the right ball delivered into him he was razor sharp and is lethal when he gets his man turned. The score where he caught the ball high over Marc O Se bookended a terrific move.He really is a top marksman.

He has a sword and just puts teams to it, his all round game has gotten so much better in recent years and immense scoring continuous.

One of the greatest forwards ever. Scored 34-332 in 99 Championship and League games.

Holy Moly... !!!!

When you see it like that...

Imagine how happy you'd be to score 1 point for Dublin!

The best compliment I can pay him is that when I talk to my young fella about a sports role model, and I'd have a big interest in a number of sports, I only ever mention one name, Bernard Brogan. Be like him when playing, be like him when not playing. It's as simple as that.

Brogan is always the one that does the damage when he plays against Mayo.

As good as the Dublin squad is they will find it hard to replace himself, Cluxton and Flynn when they finish

Exactly centre field posters are freaked out thinking will just keep on producing Bernard Brogans and Cluxtons and keep winning I promise you this won't last and some better team will come through and start winning then, posters about our population we basically pick from division 1 n 2 at senior level not 1.5 million people.
