It's illegal though that's the point I am making. You know many small counties here in Ireland have many rick ex pats in the States. Maybe instead of funding a few county players to come play for the Leitrim New York Club etc they should invest it back home? That's my opinion...obviously it's their money and they can do what they want.

Yew tree You make a good point. Leitrim would be better off sending there money back home than wasting it here. Same for Monaghan and Donegal who one would estimate they spend an average of 150k per year just to keep a few players happy I'm sure it's only a matter of time that all players everywhere get compensation for playing Crossgaa (Mayo) - Posts: 553 - 13/07/2016 15:22:31 1882591 Link 0 |
An ex inter county footballers story from two years ago, flights (return) paid for & accommodation. Picked up for all training & transport by a club official & averaging between 300 & 500 dollars per game. Most lads bring their girlfriends & tour around parts of the States. A club will sometimes bring two big inter county names out early from C'ship & double the above fee. 20 to 30 thousand dollars ? There would be a flood if that was the case. Good club players might get a few quid & set up to work illegally also. Played there in the 80's & it was the first place I saw coolers full of Budweiser brought out for half time !! moc.dna (Galway) - Posts: 1212 - 13/07/2016 17:53:24 1882691 Link 1 |
