Good man Cue. How is she cutting? Are you heading to Croker on Sat to support your Leinster neighbours in the Division 3 and Division 4 finals?

Alrite Ollie,i'm making up for lost time this week workwise.Missed the guts of two weeks through illness so i'm going to put in some graft before heading in to Sundays tasty looking double header ; i have my lower Hogan Stand ticket got since last week,so really looking forward to two good games. Not sure about the post game entertainment ; might watch a bit of it and see what it's like.
As for Saturdays games,i fancy Kildare to beat the banner, and maybe a narrow Antrim victory.Would be nice for Louth to exercise their Croke Park demons and bring some silverware back to the county.Enjoy the game Ollie and ill be keeping an eye on the result.

Cue our last Croke Park win came in 2011 when wee beat Westmeath to win the Division 3 title. Antrim will be favs but we got a draw up in Belfast two weeks ago. Louth have a good record in league finals winning the Division two titles in 2000 and 2006.

For me, nothing was as bad as Monaghan qualifying for a National Hurling League final (2 years ago???) & withdrawing from the fixture because the county board wouldn't reschedule some football fixtures. When Croke Park or the GPA didn't intervene it just shows what they think of hurling in the weaker counties.

Folks

Alot of the posts are valid - football counties treat hurling second or even third rate..... we are lucky in that the Co. Board is pro hurling at the moment and this can be seen in the recent results....
However, there is support maybe minimal in alot of counties towards hurling - i don't think it is distant or completely negatively.... most Gaels if not all take pride in their county teams and efforts and sucesses they may bring ....... but Kilkenny show no interest in football

Do you know something that I don't - ( not trying to be smart) but in the official guide the All_Ireland C Hurling Final is down for August this year,
although i don't see any other fixtures, but i do see fixtures for Minor B and U-21 B and U21 C.

Personally i think these are great competitions and need to be highlighted and promoted more... with a final as a curtain raiser in Croke Park....
Yes if Kilkenny were in a B or C competition it might suit ...... but would they care, train, or even be motivated!!!!

Ballydallane,i never called for any boycott or asked anybody to do so.Don't know where your getting that from.As soon as the fixture was announced,if you care to go back over it,i said i wouldn't go near Kilkenny for the game, and gave my reasons.I posted that almost immediately ; not trying to curry any favour with anybody, not even looking for a mini Nobel Peace Prize.I wouldn't be so pompous or arrogant to call for any boycott.I remain 100% of the same view a few weeks on.The fact that some others agree with my stance just shows i'm not alone on my thoughts on the matter. Can you not accept that it is my genuine belief instead of accusing me of being melodramatic and looking for Nobel prizes?

I never said you called for a boycott. I said you are boycotting it. Which is true, you are.

I know that the Minor 'C' has been scrapped this year. I think there will be a minor club competition in Ulster during the summer but nothing for 'C' grade counties. These lower grade competitions are run on a blitz format which I feel is demeaning. How many blitzes will Kilkenny minor hurlers compete in this year?

Yes,it is true.Truth be told, because of Dublins unhealthy dominance of the province in recent years, and the complete predictability of the games,i haven't attended many Leinster championship games over the last five years or more, but leaving that aside,i wouldn't attend this game in Nowlan Park as a matter of principle.
As for John Whites stupid comment, well i don't have any reply for it.Can't say i'm surprised, though.

The Wexford minors will get no luck for scoring 17 goals.
A training match would have been more beneficial for them.
But to continue going for goals when KK were long embarassed was shameful.

There are 11 counties with smaller populations then Kilkenny and a fraction of the resources and probably all would be described as football mainly counties but all put much more effort into hurling then the cats do in football. A Antrim poster was defending Kilkenny as the have 19 football clubs well if that is the case the have the structure there do be doing far better the are. It all comes down to money if Kilkenny wanted the could be competitive with the likes of Carlow and Wicklow in football. But counties with a couple of hurling clubs are not going to be competitive with the likes of galway and tipp. It was a ridelous decision given Nolan park the dubs game, the Leinster council should inist the gate money should be out into football.

if the management wouldnt pick a guy for kicking a point instead of a goal in a game like that then they arent worth their salt

The Wexford lads went out to win a match and if u have competition for places then your not going to kick the wide when you are in on goal. It not there fault what the were playing

Agree with Ros1 - why should a team ease off the gas?Just to save the opposition from embarrassment?Fair play to the Wexford lads in keeping going to the final whistle.Kilkenny hurlers never ease off the gas.Kerry footballers destroyed many teams over the years.Dublin are doing it in Leinster, now.I admire teams that play to their full potential.Sport is no place for sentimentality.

Cue, if the Dublin hurlers were drawn to play a championship match in Clones there is NO WAY you would boycott it over the Monaghan county board's treatment of hurling. Even though the principle should be the exact same.
