vaguely remember being at that game in '87 as a 10 year old.The only player i can remember is Dublin midfielder Jim Ronayne.Kerry had beaten us '79,83 & 84 All Irelands so it was a big deal to finally get one over on them. haggen (Dublin) - Posts: 6 - 11/04/2016 14:02:35 1844293 Link 0 |

RE;" important game for both sides, dublins last game until the AI semi (probably) and for Kerry until munster final id love to see Kerry really attack cluxtons kickouts like the final last year he was well rattled in that game, think we are well positioned to have a right cut off the dubs if we test that fullback line enough and get parity in the middle third poguemahone (Dublin) - Posts: 365 - 11/04/2016 16:25:59 1844368 Link 0 |
A tough ask for the Dubs to win again. But it will be close. Who will the Ref be? I know Kieran Donaghy will try and ref it. So I hope the Dubs come up with a plan to stop this carry on. galwayford (Galway) - Posts: 2522 - 11/04/2016 16:33:37 1844375 Link 0 |
every aspect? I think Dublin won the middle third comprehensively in the final but cluxton was under pressure for the kickouts, without doubt Dublin were the better team however by a distance. coopersleftfoot (Kerry) - Posts: 91 - 11/04/2016 16:37:00 1844376 Link 0 |
Who do neutrals think will win this? Seems to be a lot of people thinking Kerry have this in the bag (I don't mean here, just on various sites etc). CroiGorm (Dublin) - Posts: 1547 - 11/04/2016 16:43:52 1844378 Link 0 |
for me Dublin are still favourites I just think people feel Kerry might be closer to them than last year that's all, that's why there is more of an emphasis on Kerry than Dublin at the mo, more of a story in kerrys improvement rather than Dublin maintaining their very high standards coopersleftfoot (Kerry) - Posts: 91 - 11/04/2016 17:03:32 1844393 Link 0 |
CroiGorm who do you think you're fooling? KYTitletown (Kerry) - Posts: 816 - 11/04/2016 17:04:54 1844394 Link 0 |
I'm not trying to fool anyone. I've said myself I think we'll win. However, I've read stuff online from a lot of neutrals calling a Kerry win so I'm curious of the opinion of neutrals here. CroiGorm (Dublin) - Posts: 1547 - 11/04/2016 17:20:55 1844403 Link 0 |
Being 1/20 favourite last night mattered a jot as young Jordan Spieth suffered a mini-meltdown and sent two of his golf balls skinny dipping on the treacherous par-3 12th waving goodbye to back-to-back Masters.Favourites tags between Kerry and Dublin is baloney.50/50.No more,no less. cuederocket (Dublin) - Posts: 5084 - 11/04/2016 17:43:47 1844407 Link 0 |

I think if we win Midfield or get our fingers to more knock downs we will cut Kerry open ,If Kerry win midfield it will be a very close game that could go either way. Donaghy and Moran will cause trouble if allowed. AthCliath (Dublin) - Posts: 4347 - 11/04/2016 18:17:10 1844418 Link 0 |
Spieth's implosion was a once in a decade type event (Van de Velde Greg Norman etc) Plus such a catastrophic sporting event is more likely to occur in an individual sport like golf in contrast to Gaelic Football where if 1 or 2 are having a bad day they can be quickly replaced. (In dublin's case with loads of quality options) KYTitletown (Kerry) - Posts: 816 - 11/04/2016 18:47:40 1844422 Link 0 |
I realise that KY,but i wouldn't take too much notice of any odds is the point i was making.I would give Dublin the nod - just.I'd worry Kerry could get on top around the middle, and as Damo said, our defence is a slight worry, also.Full confidence in our forwards to put up a good score, but can we keep the goals out at the other end? cuederocket (Dublin) - Posts: 5084 - 11/04/2016 19:19:36 1844430 Link 0 |
Dublin are a more intelligent team, have much more pace and still more skilful players than Kerry, so I would expect them to win this game again. However, as good as Dublin are, Jack McCaffrey and Rory O'Carroll are big losses to Dublin and this game could hint for the first time at how big loss they actually are for the year ahead. Kerry are also missing players with James O'Donoghue and Anthony Maher out and Kerry would certainly need them to have any chance. By the way, can any Kerry follower shine a light on what has happened to Tommy Walsh? Is he even on the Kerry panel anymore? JamesH (Mayo) - Posts: 465 - 11/04/2016 19:22:45 1844432 Link 0 |
This final is only shadow boxing. Not a chance either side will show their championship hand (especially kerry) and give the other team a few months to plan how to beat it. A hard training match really for both bad.monkey (USA) - Posts: 4628 - 11/04/2016 20:53:19 1844458 Link 0 |
Exactly bad.monkey. In all my years I have never known people to get excited about the league. The current Munster runners-up won 3 leagues in-a-row. Nobody cares. It's only the league. legendzxix (Kerry) - Posts: 7927 - 11/04/2016 21:56:48 1844488 Link 0 |
