Hurling league QF / relegation predictions.

(Oldest Posts First)

Dublin v Limerick : Dublin
Wexford v Waterford : Waterford (much as it pains me, this could be ugly for us)
Kilkenny v Offaly, Nowlan Park : Kilkenny
Clare v Tipperary : Clare to provide some 1b solace, home rule to be the difference.

And the relgation:
Galway v Cork : Galway
Kerry v Laois: Laois (on the basis of Kerry being like ourselves and not being capable of putting 2 performances back to back)

I'm afraid Kerry's hurling year could unravel. Westmeath are strong enough to send us back to 2A and also strong enough to make the Leinster quarter-finals. Carlow are also good enough to see us drop back to Ring level. Obviously I hope we will retain our 1B status and make the top 2 in the qualifier group. I just worry that things can change fast. The qualifier group should be seen as 3 Christy Ring finals. I'm not sure our lads will be approaching those games with that in mind. I hope I am wrong!

I was fearing the worst. I am relieved to be proven wrong. The worst thing after a double promotion would have been a double relegation. We have kept our place in 1B against all the odds. People do not seem to realise that winning 2A was not on Kerry's agenda last year. The target after losing to Kildare in the Ring final of the year before was to win the Ring and enter the Qualifier Group. The Qualifier Group has been the target since it's creation. I hope we can carry our league form into the different beast that is the championship.

ke40, It was the difference between a semi final & an exit. Think Tipp will be kicking themselves after that.
Meantime Cork have got out of jail.
Honestly not having won a game in the League proper we have no right to retain our place but those are the rules.
Think our Footballers were a bit unlucky to be relegated, normally 6 points would keep you up, so we will take this hurling reprieve and say Thank You very Much.

so...
clare v kk
limerick v waterford

I assume a double header in thurlas.

Does anyone fancy an all 1b final? Personally would love a shot of redemption against our old foes Clare!

Great result for Cork today.I said it after the Kilkenny game that there is serious hope for this team. They have some quality hurlers in the forwards - backs still give up huge scores but Cork will believe they can beat Tipp or anyone else in the championhip.Well done to the them on winning in Salthill.
This a terrible result for Galway.Get rid of Anthony Cunningham and then get relegated? With home advantage in the play-off in front of their own?No excuses,Galway are down in 1B in hurlings second tier..Hopefully the players will stick behind their new manager now.

Galway were missing a third of a team yesterday Cue and the team they did put out stood off and admired Cork for most of the game.
If that Cork team beats Tipp in the championship I'll eat my hat and yours too!

I watched the Tipp game yesterday Barnowl and once again they managed to lose a game by a single score.Failure of the Tipp forwards to win the hard, dirty ball was evident again as only J McGrath could be proud of his days work. The other five forwards were average to poor.It must be very disappointing for all Tipp people to come out the wrong side of so many great games.I wouldn't share your unwavering belief in Tipp beating Cork in a few weeks.I'd favour a Tipp victory but its not far off a 50/50,maybe 55/45.This game should set the championship up nicely.I already tipped the banner to win the All Ireland a few weeks back.Minus 4/5 big names yesterday i think i'll get a run for my money.

Clare are a good side sand they don't lose many in Ennis.Tipp were not too impressive yesterday and hit a lot of wides still only lost by a point.I saw it on tv last night and it was a different style of game to the 'exhibition match' hurling we had in Salthill.Tipp won't be as accommodating when they play Cork in Thurles in my view but sure time will tell.

Tipp will either beat Cork by a wide margin come championship leading from the front. Or personally I think Cork will stay with them and finish strong. Tipperary have some issues with tight finishes.
