Looks like Antrim need a few things to happen to give them a lift. But certainly their is no quick fix.
A strong Manager that could unite the players and make them want to play first and foremost ( because at the moment county jersey is not enough). Is their any Antrim guys who could fit the bill . A helping hand from HQ (money) but more importantly from Ulster (common sense and a bit of respect )which might give lads a feeling of being wanted .
A couple of victories and a feeling that things are going in the right direction ,could be massive in making Antrim players unite for their county .

Excellent plan.

All-Ireland club championship seems to sap the energy out of this county. Its geographic remoteness from the rest of the hurling counties hasn't helped either, plus they reside in effectively another state making cross border funding not a very straight forward business. All these outside things do not help their cause and if you add into the mix some unhealthy rivalry then there is only one way things go. But ultimately the solution has to come from within the county.

Keeper7,

You could say it was also imperialist meddling that put the various Antrim clubs in the same county as each other too ;)

There's certainly plenty of tribal differences anyway, Castlebravo ;-)

You can talk all you like it won't change a thing. I have been involved in dev squads for years and young boys, their parents and their club coaches could not be bother promoting the 'playing for their county'. That applies to both codes although the footballers have a better chance of fixing the problem given that we are in Ulster where getting meaningful matches in football is easier.

Go on ex-ref tell us something we don't know. There has been a whiff around the county ON and OFF the field for a while. NOTHING I would hear about Antrim would surprise me anymore.

Problem with Antrim hurling has always been the infighting between clubs. You can change county board and structures etc but nothing will happen till the clubs also play for the county

The only way is down for Antrim...well it always has been down ,as way up there in the north of the north they arent any counties above them!!

The upheaval of the county board at the start of the year seems to have done nothing positive from what I can tell( but to be honest i cant tell much from down here)
the whole county team likely needs a reboot but the Christy Ring will be starting soon so likely they will have to plod along with their current squad for the rest of the year

We're only missing a ballycastle and rossa representative Offside.

I have to say my first impression is its a good call by county board.
They have acted fairly quickly to get them all on board which is a good sign
They have also appointed guys with plenty of experience and dare I say balls who wont have any time for time wasters.
Itll be interesting to see if there'll be a cull as a result of the rumours too, particularly with the cushendall boys to come in.

four people? hmmm. Usually its hard enough to get two lads working harmoniously, but four really would be a first especially in our county. I can't imagine they've had much time to decide on who does what either. I wish them the best but I'm not overly confident that this will last long.

woops one thing I would say is that the new county board have not been in long enough to be associated with this.
