Giles was a super footballer, but a VERY average free taker and anyone who tells me he wasnt has rose tinted glasses or is from Skryne! (or however ye spell it!) Liamwalkinstown (Dublin) - Posts: 8166 - 11/02/2016 19:07:19 1824791 Link 0 |

I would say Colin Corkery when he was at his peak. Unbelievable accuracy from either the ground or the hands. Michael Murphy would be my pick of current day players. Texas (Donegal) - Posts: 163 - 12/02/2016 17:41:33 1824981 Link 0 |

Oisin Mc Conville hands down the best from back in the day and Trevor Giles would be close behind youngfella27 (Armagh) - Posts: 110 - 19/02/2016 11:54:29 1826583 Link 0 |
Mickey newman misses more frees from 21-30 yards out in front of the post than any other free taker I have watched. a good day for him is hittin 3 outa 5 which is average in my book. Never reached or will reach the potential he showed in minor/colleges Irish_downunder (Meath) - Posts: 631 - 19/02/2016 11:58:05 1826584 Link 0 |
Patsy Hetherington Tyrone top scorer in the 1973 and 1980 Ulster Championship was a great free taker for his club Donaghmore for 20 years. Byanthon (Tyrone) - Posts: 1780 - 19/02/2016 12:40:16 1826599 Link 0 |

From recent years Micheal John Tierney for Laois was superb and had a lovely style with his left foot... BigJohn.6_8 (Galway) - Posts: 704 - 22/02/2016 14:19:05 1827210 Link 0 |
