Mayo v Dublin

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Bloody hell, things have reached a new low on this thread.

You would never see this sort of carryon if Donegal were involved.

To think that Dublin & Mayo used to be held up to us uncivilised Nordies as bastions of the best of "traditional" GAA values!!

Muck, this has been a very, very strange thread.Bizarre in the extreme.Hilarious in parts.Deeply worrying in others.Hopefully some of the protagonists have remembered to take their medication(:

Why drag Mayo into all this Muckross? Seems to me the playground antics of the "say that to my face" brigade and the sad and jaded sheep jokes are all one sided. We in Mayo, as is our wont, have mostly conducted ourselves with dignity and restraint.

Cuede,

What amazes me is how a lot of this stuff was let through. There is no accounting for the mental state of some posters due to Lenten abstinence, inebriation, poor family genes, etc etc but I thought that's what the moderators were for.

When I think of some of the erudite, rational, reasonable & well argued posts that I submitted and never saw the light of day...........

I fully agree muckross. But the underlying issue with these threads is always the same, some people like to dish it out, but cant take it back.
Personally, I cant fathom how someone spends half the thread whinging about the grass (that was no longer than that of any other game over the weekend), dodgey black cards and refs being against them(the McMahon tackle was both a trip and a third man tackle - two black card offences ffs), opposition players being aggressive in the tackle (constant whinging about Boyle while James McCarthy shoulders O'Connor square in the chest after the ball was gone - big deal, it happens, get on with it, players will collide in games like this), and then turns around and states the other lads are always whinging. Then they start threatening a fight if anyone argues back. I mean, could the whinging assertion be any more ironic? Could someone be any less self-aware or one-eyed?

I don't like mayo fans being involved in this type of rubbish, but considering the above scenario, what else can you expect but for someone to respond? Nobody should have to sit there and read that utter ***** being pushed about their team, or any team.

As we all know muck, bad news sells more papers than good news.Maybe bad posts have a similiar affect.Like rubbernecking past a car accident. You dont really want to see the damage, but you can't really avoid a sneaky peak. There are quite a few posters who erudite, sensible & reasonable posts have little or no effect.

But that's the problem Master, some idiot posts myopic nonsense & then someone else responds & before we know where we are It goes out of control.

The best tactic when encountering idiotic nonsense is to

1. Count to ten.
2. Feel sorry for the poor deluded fool.
3. Feel even sorrier for his mother/wife/partner/children.
4. Say an Our Father & 3 Hail Marys the he might be delivered from his idiocy forthwith.

This is my new philosophy these days & it gives you an enormous sense of peace & a vague feeling of having provided a small service to humanity in general.

The feeling of smug superiority is another thing altogether & must be dealt with by wrapping barbed wire round the old y-fronts and flagellating yourself as Christy Moore recommended.

We are when it suits us, we're not when it don't.

In this particular case, it does.

You have a problem with that?????
