Yeah great achievement from Clare footballers, it would be great to see them or Tipp challenge for a Munster title in the coming years.

I hope the county board backs them and provides equal resources to both codes, which doesn't always happen for what are seen to be "hurling" counties.

ya great achievement for the footballers but i think their main problem is that a lot of good footballers in clare are also good hurlers and will tend ot pick hurling over football.

also, west and north clare are the football strongholds but they are also less populated than mid and east clare which are hurling heartlands.

i think though it shows what a good mgmt team can do. Micko Dwyer had more or less same squad and they finished 3rd bottom of division 4 and thumped in the championship. Colm Collins has done a super job and fair play to him.

"More or less the same squad" cannot say that is true. The youth like Jamie Malone Seanie Malone pierce Lillis Eoin Cleary Keelan Sexton Cian O Dea were not there and they are players that have contributed handsomely to this promotion. Also Pat Burke and Shane McGrath were not as the scene as far as I know. Cathal O Connor has emerges as a real leader since coming home from Scotland and the same can be said for Kevin Harnett, To be fair the first 15 is capable of playing a lot better football than anything Micko had. Dont get me wrong Micko was not the right man for Clare but the ingredients were not there either. They were lost years for Clare football.

Not now though!! Up the banner!!!!
