Im a hurling man first and foremost all i will say on this is the cork tipp game result will have massive result on my preditiction for liam but we need a positive league campaign but let me say again its only feb alot of water will run under the bridge before sept cue

Tipp v Cork is something to look forward to.Tipp have won 6/7 of their last championship games v Cork, including hammering them in the All Ireland semi final last year.I believe the game is on in Thurles so Tipp will be hard to beat there.Cork love Thurles too.A great hurling rivalry;the blue and gold v the blood and bandage;Doyle v Ring,English v JBM,Bubbles v Horgan;i might go down to this game myself.

Don't waste your time going to a Munster championship match. Dead rubber competition. How often do the Munster champions even reach the All-Ireland final never mind win it?

Cork have a chance of winning the hurling All-Ireland for sure as there are really only about 10 anyway (where there are 32 in football). It is only February but come September, Cork will not have found the extra 5 or 6 players needed to beat Kilkenny - who, IMO, will canter to the All-Ireland victory

Benny, sounds like you have a serious dose of the "Munster blues!".While i realise Munster hurling crowds have been well down in recent years,i still find myself looking forward to it every year. This year is wide open. You could make a case for all five counties.Clare, with Donol Og involved;Waterford looking to build on reaching last years All Ire semi final,Limerick with underage success to build on,Tipp desperately trying to add a second All Ireland to this star studded team and Cork trying to restore some pride and get back to where they think they belong;at the top!.What's not to like?A Munster team has been in the All Ire final in 2007,2008,2009,2010,2011,2013 & 2014.They lost most to the mighty cats but most games were close affairs.
After the hurling & football All Ireland finals,Munster hurling is my favourite.I have connections down there and have been at,approx,10 Munster hurling finals over the years.Benny, try and ignite that hurling passion that lies within. If you cant get the juices flowing for Tipp v Cork in Thurles, fear you could be beyond saving!

oakleafersir, reel it in a bit. You've lost the absolute run of yourself. Barton is building, and I think the team going in the right direction. Let's see how this year goes before proclaiming the boys champions elect.

Gleebo,

Are you basing your opinion on Cork on one game from last year i.e. V Kildare? When they were knackered after playing Kerry twice?
At least Cork don't brown them selves when they get to finals unlike a certain western crowd....

I think Derry are getting stronger, but I think lack the confidence of the likes of Donegal, Tyrone and Monaghan to push over the final hurdle. Sometimes that can be achieved by having a good championship run which convinces a team of their abilities. But I'm not sure we have enough to go that extra step and win the Ulster Championship this year. I do think beating Tyrone in our opener is a possibility and very likely.

Watched highlights of Donegal v Down, and was amazed by the sheer pace of Donegal in attack. They have brought in new faces, and only time will tell. But if they get things right, I reckon they will back challenging Dublin, Kerry and maybe Mayo. Donegal have the mental strength that many sides don't have, and could be key challengers for Ulster again this year.

I think Meath may be a side to watch, they have the key talent and belief engrained into their minds. Cork have definitely had a superb pre-season and are well geared up for the league. But I felt they were excellent last year, but were shakey come championship. Time will tell, but I think Kerry are not as strong as previous seasons and could be a chance for Cork to step up.

Donegal, Meath and Cork this year to step it up a notch.

A lean & hungry Mark McHugh has rejoined the Donegal squad this week adding more pace & work rate.

He has worked his socks off to get back & I wish him all the best.

Dickie10,

Indeed they did but they also won in 89,90, and 2010 so they have a few Sams in living memory again unlike a certain whingey western mob.

Hear hear Muckross.

People forget that he's a young man. I'm sure we could all look back at our decisions in our early 20's and cringe!
Good luck to the lad. On form he is a very intelligent player and well worth his place.

Eh, what exactly are you basing the second part of this post on? Nothing Cork have done in the past several seasons suggests that they are contenders. They hardly displayed the "right attitude" when they exited tamely to Kildare in the qualifiers last year (a team that Kerry subsequently put seven goals past). Unless you're basing it on the opening league game of the season...

To be fair we had Kerry beaten in the Munster Final drawn game only for a ridiculous penalty decision. We played Kildare 6 days later and history tells you that it's almost an impossible task to win with the short turn around. You are right though when you say that last few seasons we have not been up to much but i honestly put that down to management. Peader Healy is well respected by the players and is a good appointment we have had in years. We have a good team if we just start to believe in ourselves more. I really think we are every bit as good as Kerry, Mayo, Tyrone and Donegal. I do think Dublin are sitting at the top on there own. On a dry day last September they would of beaten Kerry out the gate, They where far superior on the day.

I think that a few more teams like Derry, Galway and maybe Meath might have a good season. Other then those teams i can't pick anyone else who might challenge.
Last Sunday was a league game so nothing can be taken from it only a good start for Cork but we have seen it all too often. Championship is where you need to show what you are made of.

No Monaghan Rebeltrev? You do know you're about to feel the wrath of the Farney men for failing to give them the "respect they deserve"
