Dublin v Kerry

I agree about young Begley.A very tough baptism of fire for him but he stuck at it and fought hard until the end.He wont face teams as strong and mobile as Dublin every week and this game will stand to him down the line.

The Dubs last night picked up from where they left off last year, and so did Kerry. The Dubs are still weak where they've always been weak, but have turned this to their advantage by their kickout strategy, and running the ball at the opposition's big midfielders. No one's come up with any effective way to combat these tactics. The pace of execution takes care of the rest. Still can't believe Fitzm throwing a boy, no matter how game into that match... young Begley only stayed on the pitch due to the ref's charity... he was destroyed in every sense and only his youthful naivety kept him from dropping his head. You'd have to question the wisdom. Big challenge next week for Mayo in McHale Park.

Dublin are just so good. Always have men in the right positions....a player in possession always has options. They will be hard stop this year again.

JamesH, I would have loved to have been standing next to you as the full time whistle blew on that famous day down in Limerick 18 months or so ago.

Reading your guff on this website I often imagine that at that moment you literally eat yourself with the bitterness and now you exist in some nebulous state of pure repressed anger and frustration.

Hard to tell where teams are at at this stage in the year but Dublin looked sharp.Kerry will improve undoubtedly but could have a battle on their hands before league ends to stay in contention.

Well that was painful viewing last night.

Freezing my ass off to see that attempt of a display from Kerry in the second half. I havn't seem them play so bad in the League since the first couple of games under Fitzmaurice in 2013.

I know Dublin had a stronger team out and probably 5-6 weeks more training under their belt but no Kerry side should go up to Croker and perform so poorly.

We were clueless both upfront and in the backs. How can the management not come up with something to stop teams driving up through the middle of us at will? Its been our main flaw over the last year and Fitzmaurice still hasn't done anything to tighten things up.

I'm getting sick of this lackadaisical attitude to the League by Fitzmaurice. Last year should have shown him that you can't rely on form just being turned on like a tap. Every year under Jack we won an All Ireland we had a League title in the bag. We should have targeted this game for a result. God help him if we don't get one against Roscommon next Sunday and are already battling relegation.

Great to be back and have January out of the way.
Nice to beat Kerry anytime and get off to a good start as this division is always competitive.2 points on the board and looked good in what was realistically an easy victory. Kerry ,try as they might just didn't look up to the task last night.I know they were shy a few starters but I expected more from them.

Both teams only back training since 1st Jan. Of last years All Irelands final starting teams Dublin had 9 players playing yesterday. Kerry had 8 so both teams were missing a few players

Dubs defo picked up where they left off last year... only positives I saw for Kerry were Paul Murphys marking job on Connolly and the trouble Walsh caused at Full Forward for 15 mins in the first half. But in reality 4-5 of that starting Kerry team just are not at a level to take on a team with the quality the Dubs have. Cant understand why we don't have 5-6 of the U21s in the mix for the league - get them blooded in and give them some game time - we're going to need a few of them to have any chance of taking the Dubs later this year.

Good result for Dublin but poor enough performance from both sides I thought. In fairness it is early in the year but some sloppy passages of play from both teams throughout.

Not sure Tommy Walsh did particularly well. The big target man up front has been tried and tried against Dublin. Has it ever worked much? Granted , by the nature of the beast, it will cause some problems but it also results in a lot of wasted ball. SF V mayo last year , Dub defenders strolled out with a lot of ball aimed at AOS . Saw the same on Saturday V TW. As a Dub, am hoping opposing teams continue to reduce talented players to being 'hit n hope 'target men.

Overall decent game on Saturday. Hoping to get to Castlebar next weekend, great town for the pints and the craic.

Very Poor Kerry , and I was quite surprised at that , the system set up was naïve to say the least, very lazy defending .
I didn't think the game in Kilarney would have any bearing on who took Sam in Sept 2015 , equally Saturdays game wont either , trust me if we play Kerry again this year they will be a different beast , only a fool would read too much into Saturdays game , that said it doesn't mean we cant enjoy our victory and display .
Plus ponts Mannion and overall movement of the ball , negatives poor killer finshing in front of goal , and I was quite nervous when M Fitz was isolated under the highball v TW ,

Blacknamber, well ok re Murphy's marking job on Connolly as D.C didn't score from play but I suggest you watch the game again, there really was only one candidate for MOM, Connolly kickstarted virtually every move that left the Kerry goalkeeper exposed, he had a big number of possessions and regularly took out two or three Kerry defenders with pinpoint foot passes, he was Dublin's playmaker in chief.

Well I'm a fool cause I give Kerry no chance of winning Sam, besides O Donoghue the other players there missing are finished imo O Se O Mahoney Gooch Donaghy all great players but there day is over , not a hope Kerry will win the all Ireland this year , Tommy Walsh is back but he forgot to bring his pace home he's as slow as they come. Nothing impressed me with them in last years final and they were blessed to win it in '14 and again on Saturday nothing I seen that would scare me come August.

Thanks for letting me know Clondalkin, I'll put the Kerry jersey away into the press so until 2017 and start booking flights for Wimbledon this summer instead ;)

I will refer to the first part of my comment I didn't read to much into us getting beaten last year in Killarney when many did , we were off the pace and didn't look like champions , equally Ive seen Kilkenny played off the park in the league and we know what happens in Sept , Your not a fool for saying they have no chance of winning your entitled to your opinion ,its just not one Id share

The Hermit it's just my opinion pal , cannot for the life of me see how Kerry win Sam unless the go Donegal style and then you never know but it's clear as day anyone who takes Dublin on man for man is in for a hammering.
