I think the ones who can are in the minority cue. I have no issue with a bit of slagging, as long as you can take it back. Clondalkindub doesn't generally fit into that category

One of the most admiral traits of this Dublin team over the last 5 years and especially the last 3 years under Jim Gavin has been the level of consistency in their performances. Win or loose with the former happening very rarely these days the competitive edge and drive is rarely absent. They put on a high-level footballing performance nearly every time they play with a drive and hunger that is palpable. Every time Dublin play now one feels they are sending a message to all pretenders and each victory brings an added brick of belief to the Dublin fortress. They strangely lost to Longford recently but just watch their reaction now! Dublin will be wide awake on Saturday and ready to rock! Will Kerry?

Kerry it seems to me are lagging behind with a more laissez faire attitude when it comes to the league under Fitzmaurice with a more sleepy attitude that lasts nearly until the August weekend. They rise themselves for Cork of course but not much else get those juices flowing between now and August. There is an arrogance as if to suggest most games are meaningless and somehow beneath them. The attitude is wrong! Perhaps a notion still exists in the Kingdom that form can be just turned on an off like a tap? It is a big mistake! Because Dublin are and have been for a number of years now consolidating and building an empire while the Kingdom sleeps though the winter.

It is a mistake by Kerry under Fitzmaurice that they can just ignore the league and wait for summer. Form does not just turn on and off like a tap and the winning habit and consistency pays off more in the long run. If anything demonstrates the more professional approach taken by Dublin, it is their attitude to the league and indeed all matches they play these days.

It's horses for courses. The opposite hasn't done Cork many favours in the championship.

Kerry are blooding young players in the league and not ignoring it the last few years. A few years back, what was described as Kerry's worst ever u21 team took a hammering from Cork. Fitz used a lot of them in the league and Kerry nearly got relegated. Some nie or ten of that U21 team ended up with senior medals by the end of sept 2014.

Ulsterman cop yourself on. If you bothered to look at another thread on here you would see no love in. Unlike ulster where you all love each other, Meath and Dublin do not like each other one bit.

Kerry team being named at 9pm tonight. A lot of lads unavailable due to injuries etc, it will be interesting to see if Eamon gives a début to any of the young fella's coming through.

€10 is great value for the match in fairness, fair play to the GAA for making League games so affordable again this year. There should be a great crowd at it with those prices.

Hopefully the rain might hold off this time!

€10 is excellent value into any part of the ground alright The Hermit, doubleheader with Dublin v Wexford in the hurling too if anyone is interested, both teams will be experimenting with some young lads and players missing through injury etc but still think we will get a good, hard fought, game and gona go for the Dubs by 4 :)

The Hermit what's the story on Killian Spillane ? Outstanding minor who hasn't been seen since? I was sure he'd be called up last year to senior panel but no sign of him? I know he's in involved with his club right now so won't be seen Saturday but will he make the panel this year?

I was actually thinking about having a pre-match pint in O'Casey's alright cuederocket, O'Casey's and Mulligans would be two spots I'd always like to stop by at some point the day of a match in Croker, it just doesn't feel the same unless you've ventured to one or the other!

I've had some great times celebrating and some not so great times lamenting in both over the years. Great spots for a game!!

Clondalkin, as regards young Spillane well firstly his club tied with Templenoe because they are in the Junior final next Saturday. That's going to be a great day for club football down here, hopefully both Kerry sides can come away as All Ireland champions.

Secondly, I assume he will be part of Jack's U-21's this year and so that will rule him out of involvement with the Senior side (at least in the League).

In Kerry over the last decade we seem to be very reluctant to give minors or U-21's exposure to the senior panel. The normal thing seems to be to wait until fella's are 23-24 before they are considered.

Now of course there's a lot of debate about that policy down here, plenty of people are of the opinion 'if they're good enough they're old enough': I'm not sure where I stand on it myself, I can see the pro and con's of both sides of the coin.

The best players in any sport nearly always make the breakthrough very young 18 or 19, Gooch was 18 going on 19 when he made his Kerry debut so its not a rule in Kerry , I was convinced Spillane would be straight into the panel after his minor season he was that good , for me if your good enough your old enough.

Please posters of counties that aren't going well in the league start the bs of "we don't take the league seriously" , that's complete waffle no team goes out to lose and most teams have no chance of winning Sam so why on earth wouldn't you take the league serious ?

Ya there's a lot of people down here would share your views Clondalkin.

Its not a rule per say down here, it just seems to be the trend in the last decade or so to play the long game and wait until lads are a little older before they are introduced into the senior set up. Perhaps the thinking is that by that stage their bodies have fully developed and they might be better conditioned to cope with the inter-county scene.

I think Kilkenny have a similar enough policy don't they? Most of those lads had to ply their trade with the U-21's and in the Walsh cup before they graduated to being in and around the senior panel.
