I expect TheMaster to painfully comment on every Dublin post; talk about money, population etc........ yawn!

When asked how Mayo are helping Leitrim he disappears.

Welcome to 2016.

Oh football.....to make the Leinster Final.

Hurling.......to remain Div 1 and have a cut a the Leinster title.

Mainly because it is a daft point that doesnt make any sense... If all gaa funds are pooled, as I have suggested on multiple occasions, then they would be helping Leitrim, and everyone else that needs helping, as much as they are physically able to.

Who knows, maybe the concept will finally dawn on you in 2016...

My prediction is it wont...

Expectations are at a all time low in Meath so can't really say, look to beat Louth next week and a sot at dubs in O'Byrne is about as far as we can look at minute. One game at a time and pray that mod has finally learned is best we can hope for.

Daft? @TheMaster

Dont get that? Again you didnt answer the question, but Ill help you out.

Leitrims a small county in terms of the GAA, they need funding. Mayo could give them a few bob surely. But how does this pooling money help Leitrim, they get significantly more cash yes, but so do Mayo.

Dublin arent gonna generate sponsorships to perpetuate the same old situation in Connaught. You are bonkers. And if Dublin did pool their resources, they would have significanly less resources to fund their own county.

Makes no economic sense, especially to Dublin.

You want Dublin to give away their funding because it makes things fairer.....fairer for who exactly? Lets all get off the cute hoor bus. You want Dublin weakened so Mayo can win an All Ireland. The only response you've got to Mayo making things fairer is........Make Dublin give them money?

DAFT INDEED

Expect to contest the 4 trophies on offer for us. Expect to retain the O'Byrne Cup, win the league, Leinster championship and give it a good rattle to do the very tough task of reatining Sam. Big ask to do all that again the following year but hopefully the players we have returning this year, Mannion,O'Gara etc will improve us along with some of the younger players that Gavin is giveing a chance to at the moment.

A League Semi Final would be great, not to win the thing, just so the younger players can get a senior run out on Croke Park this year.

In Championship, assuming we overcome Fermanagh/Antrim we simply have to beat Monaghan. And if we do that, I believe we'll beat Tyrone. I wouldn't be expecting us to make an impact on the AI series though.

Actually, we'll win Ulster, beating Monaghan on the way. Then they'll beat us in AI Quarter Finals. The b*st*rds.

Football: make sure to avoid relegation in 2016and guarantee division 1 football for 2017 and an All Ireland semi final should be enough but with the players revolt at the end of season 2015 and the massive hunger of Mayo fans it has to be all or nothing so it has to be an All Ireland Final victory for 2016, don't like putting that kind of pressure on players but they started the ball rolling on this.
Hurling: promotion and a Nicky Rickard title, anything else is failure. They (players) removed their manager a few years ago and them managed to get themselves relegated from Christy Ring champ to Nicky Rickard, they made a play and then failed now have the balls to make it right, Nicky Rickard title and promotion in the League

Hurling, this will be an account interesting year to see how team competes with the changes that have taken place.
Most are probably not expecting too much so hopefully we will get a good run but important thing will be to stay in division 1a.

Football, tough enough to try and retain Sam and with Rory gone it will certainly be interesting and will add another dimension but who knows it would be a great achievement to do it.

In football the hope would be to make the League top four again, after that it's just a matter of taking each the games as they come and hope for the best. In the Championship the hope would be to finally retain Sam, or at least get to the final to try defend it, but as we all know that's easier said than done.
In hurling retaining their division 1A status in the league is vital. As for the championship my hope is for a season of more consistency than in the last couple of years. Its been a while since we strung 2 or 3 good performances together so hopefully this is the year to achieve that and see where it takes us.

JayP, mayo have an excess of their own (an excess that I would happily share out to counties like Leitrim, provided everyone else with an excess was doing the same). They wouldn't be getting any money from Dublin at all, in fact they would be giving everything they can spare, same as everyone else who is able to. Your view is depressingly simplistic on this topic.

TheMaster (Mayo) - Posts: 16187 - 12/01/2016 09:38:07    1815967

TheMaster that is overly simplistic..... And again stupid.

If everybody pooled their extra resources...and gave them away like you say, and under the assumption you think Dublin have more than anyone else to spare.....Dublin would be giving more to the pot than everyone else. Fact.

But....Dublin have bigger this bigger that etc as you point out. Isn't it kinda obvious they have the biggest spend? Why wouldn't they? You presume Dublin have lots to spare.

One word........ Strategy

Taking the level of competition into account, an Ulster title would be a great achievement.

After that, who knows? My worry would be that winning Ulster would take a huge toll & leave us vulnerable against teams who would have had an easier run.

Not whinging just calling it as I see it.
