Your Team's Championship 15

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Very early days yet I know but what team would you predict your county will field come Championship this summer? Obviously some older players will have to be replaced, players will be unavailable due to injury/travel/work commitments etc. Plus you'd be hoping that 2 or 3 youngsters would stake a claim during the pre-season provincial competitions and the national league.

I'd be interested to hear other Donegal posters particularly.

This is the team that I would I like to see. It won't be the team of course. After the Kildare game of last year (despite the 'issues' with the management at the time) there are some higher profile players that should not play with Cork again - those that seemed not to be making an effort. Alan O'Connor is not one of them but I doubt he will bother coming back (though he is a neighbour of Peadar Healy).

Jeez he'd a big loss would he not? No offence but can a county like Cavan afford so many of last year's panel to go? Are Eugene Keating and Givney back? Always rated those two.

They aren't letting the players go, many have work commitments and can't give the commitment training 4/5times a week. Others were fringe players who didn't feature much last year.

Johnston is a replacement for Dunne, probably a better forward too.

Galway footballers have had a few departures stateside and a few long term injuries, but this is the team I'd like to see starting the championship:

Brian O'Donoghue

Colin Forde
Finian Hanley
Cathal Sweeney

Liam Silke
Gary O'Donnell
Paul Varley / Gareth Bradshaw

Fiontain O'Curraoin
Tom Flynn

Gary Sice
Shane Walsh
Paul Conroy (3rd midfielder)

Patrick Sweeney
Damien Comer
Martin Farragher

There are whispers that Rory Kavanagh might be back. I'll believe it when I see it but he'd be a great addition.

Just a side note - we must be the county with most set of siblings involved at the one time ever?

McHughs, McBreartys, McGees, Thompsons

3 Dalys(Niall,Conor,Ronan) , 3 Murtaghs(Diarmuid,Ciaran,Brian) , O'Malleys(Darren,Shane) ,Kilbrides(Ian, Senan) ,Creggs(cathal, Finbar) Smiths(Enda, Donie) Comptons(Cathal,Colm)

1, unsure as of yet, I think paddy time has come to a end,
2 keoghan, best in business in this position
3 McGill, big shoes to fill but looks good prospect
4 id love to see Chris O'Connor but cant see it happening
5, Douglas, looks good
6 , micky burke, the old stalwart could get a new lease of life .
7, D Tobin
8 Rooney
9 Gillespie
10 biggy (graham reilly) fantastic player
11 cillan Sullivan , small but thank god he is getting his opportunity after surgeries and injuries
12 e Wallace, Tha would be the fastest half forward line in country
13 McMahon, his goal hunting is superb
14 I've been pondering this for a while with bray gone and I'm gonna say Dalton mcdonnagh
15 newman.

Sorry. McEntee has to be in team, and id nearly pop for him over mcdonagh and put newman in 14 with McEntee as 15, but he will probably end up in full back line , crazy place to put one of best forward in country, ahh the joys of Meath under mod, gotta love it. :).
