You should have been a Fr Ted character.. Fr Tom Smith here!! (Played by Graham Norton of course).

Could've been a bonus episode - when the 3 bishops upgraded the mushroom field in Cavan before coming to Craggy Island to do likewise to the Holy Stone!

MedwayIrish here (I had to do it just once)
Two questions out of this one,
1) Tom Smith - Is your real name Tom Smith?
2) Ormond - The Tom Smith here thing really seems to bother you for some reason, is it almost as irritating for you as people calling you Ormo? Just asking.
MedwayIrish over and out :)
It does bother me as it makes no sense for somebody to say theyre here when by pressing add message we know its them posting.
Why does it bother you that I want to be called by the correct name on this forum? My name on this forum is Ormondbannerman or Ormond for short. My name is made up of 2 words, Ormond and bannerman. Why should I accept being called ormo when I find it offensive?
Ormond is the name of my local club, the name of the area in which I live in.

Tomsmith here

All of you miss the point that I made and that is that a selected band of top posters would come together and then then we would invite the rest of you along.
No exclusion will exist as youse (while a little overawed) will be allowed to mix with all of us rtegarless of ability .One suggestion is that no poster /attendee be allowed to blow his own trumpet in relation to his posting
Indeed a workshop could be organised to give expert advice to you junior or should I say less experienced posters to bring you up to an acceptable standard.
This first meeting is not to be deemed an elitist group getogether

It doesn't bother me, just curious, that's all. If it bothered me I'd keep going on about it and I don't. I just can't see why you consider it offensive? Irritating, yes, I can see it's irritating for you, but offended? It's not like you're being abused, is it? I take your point about Ormond being where you live but still can't see why it's such a big problem. If posters started calling me Med for e.g. I wouldn't be bothered either way. Everything gets shortened, real names, fake names. Everything. I can't see how you don't realise that making the same argument to the various posters who do call you Ormo only strengthens their resolve to do it more?

I enjoy chatting to most on here, yourself included but you seem to get so upset about such minor issues. Like the Tom Smith Here thing. Who really cares? It's just a personal style like the fella who signs himself off Regards, Laochra Gael. Means nothing either way. Just try a chill a bit Ormond, you'll give yourself a heart attack one day with all the ranting and raving. It's not a perfect world, just go with the flow :)

Not worth wasting your time on Med. It's been explained to him like that umpteen times. He'll never stop whining.

Ormond, how is saying 'tom smith here', blowing your own trumpet? Is being tom smith an accomplishment or something?

You just don't like it, but it isn't up to you to decide. You are dictating to tom smith about what he calls himself, yet you refuse to let others decide what they want to call you. Its a double standard - and I know your response will be 'Its not a double standard', but it is.

Med,
You sound like a reasonable character who doesn't take trivial matters like this too seriously.
I think anyone who gets irked by such small issues has little to be worried about in life god love them.
Best ignored and cannot be taken too seriously.

I do not like your style in attacking ormondbannerman (Clare) of :10694 Posts.
I have followed his posts with great interest over the years and while his earlier posting/contribution left a lot to be desired and taking into account where he comes from I feel he has improved to no end. That may be down to him reading other intelligent posts ( like from tomsmith here ) but it is a credit to any poster who shows a high level of improvement ( while overdue) it is to be commended . Having said all of that this forum is about expression of views and my view was/is that a few top brass posters ( not ones with the most posts) should organise this function for the rest of you. This is not an exclusion policy far from it every one will be welcome on the night good/poor and not so good posters .We all had to start at the bottom and learn . I come from a County that over the years were at the top and please God the mighty Blue coloured ribbons will be on the Sam Maguire soon again UP Cavan

Well Tommy,
I do not like your style for taking issue with us for taking issue with Ormo. He is trying but progress is slow.
As for Cavan, well we'll have to wait and see but with the prodigal son back in the fold sure a miracle just might happen.
Best of luck with arranging the gatering , I'm sure it'll go swimmingly.

You could go the whole hog and turn it into a HS awards ceremony Tom. Best overall poster, best newcomer, most improved, a junior award for the kids out there who are, after all the future of the board. You'd naturally need to select a panel and some prizes to give it that professional feel. Act now before someone else does!

Tomsmith the mighty blue ribbons are already on Sam if you look close enough , in fact Id say we have decent chance this year as well , opps oh a different colour blue sorry , in fairness the colour of blue is quite different from Dublins as you can clearly see on the History channel .

Yes we went to the Polo grounds and beat the mighty Kerry by 2--11 to 2--7, and just to remind you that only one color sits best on the Sam Maguire cup and that is the Royal blue of Cavan not the Sky blue of pretenders Dublin
