Over rated and nothing special. Devoid of any real star quality e. g the Gooch.

I suppose Brogan never won a 6 nations medal or scored a try in Croker like the great Joe Sheridan

Funny you mention Joe Sheridan because it's obviously because I am from Meath that I have given a biased opinion! You Dubs are quick to attack the poster not the post ;) Big Joe had a head on his shoulders. A cuteness if you will. Put an average player like Brogan in the full forward line against lesser teams and he cleans up. That's the thing that sets a star quality forward like the Gooch apart from the crowd. They clean up against all teams not just the cannon fodder.

Jimin10 only having a laugh

Scoring 11-134 in 70 championship games isn't bad for a overrated and nothing special? How many other players have scored that from play?

All the best to Alan he owes us nothing great player up there with his brother and Dermo as our greatest ever player and good luck on the retirement, but for me he's crazy to walk away from this team especially when his legs and pace are still there and we've two or three more all Ireland's to be won with this team , like he played for ten years on a team that couldn't win Sam now he's involved in a team that's winning Sam's and he walks away I can't believe it. Hopefully he changes his mind in February and realise the massive mistake he's making.

Straw man argument.

No one mentioned the Gooch except you. He hasn't nothing to do with Alan Brogan's retirement. This isn't a thread about Cooper and Brogan.

Your argument is that Alan Brogan was over rated because he wasn't as good as the Gooch. That's, quite simply, as stupid an argument as you could make. Essentially if a player isn't as good as the best player then he is over rated according to your logic. That's pure stupidity in your post.

Note, I'm purely attacking your post, which as I said was fairly stupid.

Also should add that Jimin10 is entitled to think that Alan was over rated but not for the reason put forward.

Saying that Alan's over rated isn't necessarily stupid (though I do disagree with it) but saying he was over rated because he wasn't as good as the Gooch is fairly dumb as we can all see.

Did you not read his statement another new child has just arrived , hes putting his family first and that's never a mistake .
In addition everything that's come out from him is that hes no regrets and is honoured to have had the career hes had , would be more than a bit selfish for Dubs not to respect his decision . Smacks of self interest the man owes us nothing

I guess we all have our favourite Dublin players over the years.I must admit Alan Brogan was never one of mine.I respected him as a player, but thought he could be selfish at times and he seemed,to me anyway,to kick a lot of wides from difficult positions.
He had a massive engine, though, added with skill and a sharp brain. His long, mazy runs, lit up many a dark day.He gave his life to Dublin GAA.For that,i will always be grateful. His match clinching score in Septembers final will live long in the memory of all Dubs and was a fitting ending to such a long career.Alan Brogan - Hill 16 favourite, your legacy is secured.Rest well young man!
