Well benched, the Ulster Club has got a bit like that too seeing as we have won 8 of the last 12. The ref didn't beat us in any of these games we lost. Bellaghy beat us in 2005 when we were dead on our feet and it was really the last swansong of the old team and the beginning of the new team. We won 3 in a row after that. Pearse Ogs beat us in 2009 and the less said about that the better. Kilcoo beat us then in 2013 after a titanic struggle when we were missing several key players and Omagh beat us in 2014 when we really should have finished the job off in the first half, kinda like the AI semi last weekend. We have beaten more Tyrone teams than lost to over the last 2 years so we're happy enough about how we compare and how Armagh championship compares to other counties.

Good man DangerRanger, Im not from Cross but I have played senior level in the county over the last few years and I feel that Cross will be hard to beat in the next few years and good luck to them and hope they keep the Armagh Flag flying

Ranger you don't need to make excuses to me for Cross defeats the record pretty much speaks for itself and is rightly the envy of all other clubs - by the way I didn't make any reference to your record against Tyrone teams.
However youngfella you have summed up all that's wrong in the Armagh championship, you are from a rival club in senior football but you hope to see Cross continue to fly the flag for Armagh over the coming years? That's some attitude, not a bit wonder Cross have turned the county championship in a procession if that's the attitude that prevails among their so called opposition.

Coming from a so called less successful County, I always want to see clubs from my own county doing well.

Ollie - Surely preferably you own club rather than hoping it will be some other team "flying the flag" for the county before the championship draw is even made? Especially when you are actually playing senior football yourself.
When the club championship is over and someone is out representing the county that's a different matter.

Benched that club is representing your county. So your telling me that you would not like to see a club from your own county doing well in Ulster and the All Ireland?

Where did I say that Ollie?
But I certainly wouldn't be cheerleading another club team, hoping to see them "fly the flag" for the next few years, before the county championship has even started.

Everything what's wrong with the Armagh championship.......no wonder teams haven't broken the cross dominance with that attitude.

How can anyone argue the Armagh championship is poor when the same team has won it 15 in the 16 years(I think....open for correction). Cross don't care about the league.....they keep the big guns to the championship because they know they will win it and can keep players fresh for Ulster and for Jamie to swan about the world b4 the championship starts. Cross wouldn't of won the Tyrone championship 15 or 16 times a row.

Also read what benched is saying.....he isn't saying that he doesn't support Tyrone teams who qualify for Ulster!!!!!! Please read the posts carefully.

Sorry Benched. Forgive me but I did not see your last part about supporting that club once your club is knocked out.

Drivel, a post full of inaccuracies and plain untruths.

Cross had a great team in the 90s to start their domination. At that time, however, some of their hardest matches were in Armagh. Nowadays they have an aura that clubs in the county have not been able to see past. In bigger matches Cross come out of the blocks quickly and have teams beaten after 20 minutes. They tried to do that against Castlebar but, unusually for them, missed numerous chances. Castlebar are also a fantastic team who, unlike teams in Armagh, we're not afraid to be physical.
Over the last 20 years I firmly believe that teams like Dromintee, Pearse Ogs, Harps and Cullyhanna would have won county championships in other Ulster Counties like Tyrone. With the roll they were on Cross would have won most Tyrone championships too. This can be seen by how many times they added Ulster to their Armagh titles. It should also be remembered that in Ulster they are playing teams who are used to winning and consequently should be more difficult to beat.
Armagh have 4 or 5 good club teams. The problem is that the depth of clubs may not be there.

Lots of championships in Tyrone Armaghball no doubt, most as I more than half I wouldn't be so sure but I guess we'll never know.
One thing I think we can agree on is they've had some great teams during that time, its the attitude of some of the other Armagh teams that I have an issue with. Cross have been placed (put themselves with their results) on a pedestal, instead of lining up to knock them off it, it seems too many are in awe and some even willing to try and bask in the reflective glory

That Mitchels' squad are a special bunch, IMO. There are several players on their bench who would walk into most senior club sides in the country, and there are also many players with All-Ireland medals at various levels (féile, minor, colleges, U-21 etc.) and indeed who have either represented Ireland or have won national titles in other sports. Doesn't necessarily mean they'll beat Ballyboden, of course, but it's reassuring to know that many have what it takes to win at the highest level.

Cross are a quality side who I'm sure will be back at the business end of the provincial championship at least next year. Perhaps the contentious manner of their loss last week will give them the extra spur they need next term.
