Aidan O'Shea - POTY.

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Jack McCaffrey : 27%
Aidan O'Shea : 39%
Philly McMahon : 23%
Bernard Brogan : 11%

The above HS Poll shows that not alone is O Shea the peoples choice but O'Shea has more support than McCaffrey and Brogan combined or McMahon and Brogan combined.

Fairly sure Arsenal have won every poll going too. Doesn't mean diddly.

in fact looked all of what I always said he is, very average player.

AOS - very average! I can't take anything you say seriously here with daft comments like that.

The Master and Mayo Football = Yawn!

Why do you keep posting on it then?

Mayo football on its own is fine, its you and your neverending posts regarding Mayo which has most posters on here tired, judging by a lot of their replies

So, again I ask, why are you posting on it then?

Lads Aidan is a very good footballer, potentially he'll be a very good forward. Has had just 1 summer playing as a forward each game. He will only get better but he's not player of the year 2015 standard. While he does need support up front I think he can up the aggression. He doesn't intimidate defenders enough for a big man. Look at Donaghy, Michael Murphy even Canavan a much smaller man. They'd get stuck into their marker, not wait for the defender to try and bully them and then react. Fairly legally I mean! Just put a bit more fear into your opponent, try and put them off their game to gain the split second for a score or good pass. Early rounds of the championship defenders can be a bit slack but from quarter-finals on defenders are physical tight marking and will exploit any weakness in their opponent.

Exactly right. Mainly because, I don't buy bs and wont have it foisted onto me. So if you are a bs'er, don't waste your time.

GreenandRed, if AOS gets stuck into his man, or indeed one of them, his man goes down trying to get him sent off. The same goes for murphy actually, so I don't know how you can come to the conclusion you have.

Yet your full of it. A quick trip over to the elevenaside forum will highlight that.

Greenandred he was afraid of his life of Philly McMahon so I'd give him a break as most county players are afraid of Philly but yeah next year he needs to be tougher alright And he needs to perform when he's needed most not against a 19 year old rookie from Sligo and he needs to stop celebrating like he's Ronaldo until he wins an all Ireland

For pointing out you apply double standards because you don't like English players? No bs there, although completely off topic. I suppose when you get beaten in one argument, your only option is to reference a completely different one. Although you are getting beaten there too, you just don't realise it.

Because I've been going to matches nearly 40 years Master and that's my opinion. It's a fair point that a smart defender will look to get him sent off but he should learn from that. He's a relatively novice inter-county forward still learning his trade. Murphy, Canavan and Donaghy all know/knew how to walk the line and play the defender more aggressively. I'm sure Aidan can do the same.

Gotmilk - don't think you can win here. Best ignore the lad - mind you 14 thousand posts are hard to ignore. When does he get his homework done?

Master you are the person that states someone who has clearly gone off the boil would get into any team in the world. How is that winning an argument? Where did i state I don't like English players? Because i said Rooney is past it?

Anyway Aidan O'Shea didn't have a good enough championship to be crowned poty. Sligo went man to man in the connacht final. He had a good game against Donegal but he was of no use in the Dublin game. I know you will say he was triple marked but so was Murphy against Galway and look at the damage he caused.

at least Mayo would finally win something on a national level............... ;)

Messing messing....!

Great player, seems a decent fella, would be a good editin to any side.
Dunno where I would play him if he was a Dub given the players we have in each position. 14 maybe?

gotmilk, I don't claim o'shea deserves the poty year award. Again, you don't read the posts. My actual point was that jack mccaffrey didn't feature in the latter stages either - the same way o'shea didn't, so I was wondering how so many had him down as a shoe-in while dismissing AOS in the same breath.

GNR, your analysis of murphy is wrong, how many years you are watching football does not change that. Murphy doesn't be getting stuck into defenders at all, mainly because he knows that is exactly what they want him to. He just uses his frame when the ball comes in - donaghy is the exact same actually.

Just wanna point out a certain posters logic above is so flawed. He never wins arguments. He generally makes statements backed with his own opinion, which is stated as FACT

Master, do you think Aidan is aggressive enough to be a top forward? Is he as aggressive as Murphy or Donaghy? Probably both were not as aggressive as they are now but they learned as Aidan will as he becomes a top forward. I'm not saying he should go out peeling the head off his market making himself a target for refs. Hit them with a solid shoulder well aimed. A bit of the dark arts while the officials are not looking. Murphy and Donaghy are smart enough to try a few dark arts when they can get away with it. Like I said, it's my opinion, would be a fierce boring forum if we all agreed with each other like sheepsters.
