Flaker....So Player power wins out in an instance and it time to simply 'move on' and forget about it. Cant see too many interested in taking over under those circumstances and that attitude.

I think Kevin McStay should be given a shot

I said before I am not a fan of players having total control but sometimes it can be the right thing. Good man Jim zzzzzzzz. I was talking more along the lines of a strike etc etc. The likes of COC and Keith Higgins are not lads who will shift the blame to anyone but the players, they never do when interviewed but if they don't think what went on was good enough then I would trust them. I cannot stand the idea of joint managers by the way!

Fair play to the 2 lads for stepping aside and not dragging this out like Cork and Limerick.

What's done is done but you do wonder could the players have held their no confidence vote in secret without it coming out in the media.

It may have saved the two managers the public humiliation and embarrassment. It would have been the more decent thing to do imo.

Ultimately the players were right though in what they did, just maybe not the way in which they did it.

Previous post : Ultimately the players were right what they did ? Erm well that remains to be seen. Can't call that one at the moment. All these player power movements are not good for the game and the dreaded vote of confidence by the county board at the end of the year doesn't seem to be enough in some counties now. I'd say that Ultimately the players in Mayo have heaped more unnecessary pressure on themselves for the 2016 year . Best of luck to them with that.

I agree there is more pressure on them and in my opinion the reality is 1-15 they are still a couple of players short, but that doesn't mean they should be happy to play within a setup that was substandard. They need to give themselves the best possible chance. As I have said before the likes of Higgins and COC are not attention seeking divas, and they certainly don't blame anyone but themselves after a defeat, their post match interviews would confirm that. I just don't see this being the huge controversy people are making it out to be. The players were not happy, the mangagement walked away after talks, it can happen. There obviously aren't too many players on here who have been part of an average set up!

MesAmis, that is true, although it is my understanding that the players had no part in the story finding it's way into the press.

On the topic of their being more pressure. I don't think anyone is going to be trying harder to beat them next year, mainly because everyone is already trying their hardest to win games as it is. The media and people on the outside will be pushing that angle, but I think the players are smart enough, and experienced enough to take all that with a pinch of salt.

Personally don't get idea of dual managers. I doubt there are too many instances of it being really successful.

Someone probably told a friend or family member I suppose. Unfortunate for the two lads in anyways whatever way it got out.

I agree that it doesn't make it harder on the players at all. The only thing is it might make the incoming managers job a little more difficult initially but as long as they are of the right calibre that shouldn't be an issue.

People are saying that the players need to take more personal responsibility for defeat and not blame the management etc. That's a separate issue for me and I'm sure the players know exactly what they did and did not do during the year. Like you said, this group is smart enough and experienced enough to know that it wasn't all the management's fault and that they've work to do themselves.

Mayo are in a very strong position going forward.

If the players have no faith in the management what exactly was the point in playing on under them for another year or two?

Faith in manager me a--e there long enough around now to know what to do without needing to blame managers for there shortcomings. I won't be supporting Mayo or Galway anymore , very hard to like these players now.
