Clondalkin, Stephen bray destroyed him. He should have been taken off. Jason Doherty, barely out of u-21 and famed 'non scoring forward' gave him the run around in 2012 also. If he was that good, he wouldn't need cian o'sullivan in front of him... TheMaster (Mayo) - Posts: 16187 - 01/10/2015 15:46:01 1794795 Link 0 |

Sweet Jayzus. If SamOnErrigal is awake he will have an absolute field day on this. He has nothing but bad things to say about the ROC, especially on his hand waving at the 14 and having his back to play. Thinks this is very bad sportsmanship. Yes, I think Rory O'Carroll is a great full back. It was a problem position for Dublin for years until Rory O'Carroll's arrival. I think it took Rory O Carroll's return in order for Dublin to overcome Mayo. Dublin missed him in a big way, when he had to go off injured after 3 minutes in the drawn Dublin v Mayo game. He is a steadying force in the Dublin defense. ROC is a natural full back. I think it was the arrival of Rory O'Carroll and Michael Darragh McAuley that transformed Dublin from a losing team to an All-Ireland winning team. It certainly is a very impressive number of medals he has won at such a young age. I am sure he and others in the Dublin team are now in with a great chance of equaling Brian Mullins, Anton O'Toole and Mattie McDonagh (Galway) being the only non Kerry players that have won four senior All-Ireland medals in the last ninety years. fainleog (Limerick) - Posts: 598 - 01/10/2015 16:59:30 1794842 Link 0 |
Yet another ridiculous thread started by a member of the cohort of ncreasingly delirious Dubs who post on this forum . Yea 6 All Star nominations is impressive . The truly great John O Keeffe has 6 All Ireland medals .A little more significant than All Star nominations wouldn't you agree? O Keeffe is the best full back I have ever seen. Now Clondalkin, can you and Wayne and liamfromwalkinstown just calm down a little ? It really is getting embarrassing at this stage . Ah sure he only has 3 All irelands won..get back to me when he has 5 or 6 under his belt and you may get my approval then -) KY4SAM2015 (Kerry) - Posts: 898 - 01/10/2015 17:16:03 1794851 Link 0 |
Greengrass - John O'Keeffe has won seven All-Ireland medals, he won his 1st in 1969 as a sub at 18 years of age, he won medals as a player in 1970, 1975, 1978, 1979, 1980 & 1981. fainleog (Limerick) - Posts: 598 - 01/10/2015 17:56:27 1794876 Link 0 |

Forget the awards and medals all you have to do is watch him play to know just how good he is...and he is good. The best in the country easily. Floops (Dublin) - Posts: 1623 - 01/10/2015 18:14:45 1794881 Link 0 |
Just notice it's The ROC's 6 all star nomination in 6 years that's unbelievable from a player playing in the hardest position in GAA and still only 25 years old , he's come up against all the greats no matter what size big or small fast or slow The Roc holds his own against them all and has now established himself as the greatest full back in gaa history. I don't think anyone can argue with this fact now. SaffronDon (Antrim) - Posts: 2386 - 01/10/2015 19:18:47 1794912 Link 0 |

Thanks Fainleog . That might shame some of the delusional Dublin posters on this forum in to copping themselves on . Greengrass (Louth) - Posts: 6031 - 01/10/2015 20:35:37 1794933 Link 0 |
The day of the top full-back is over. Full-backs today have at least one other back to help him out (two if they are marking O'Shea). O'Carroll is a decent player but would struggle to handle any good full-forward on his own. The last good full-back I remember seeing was the Owens fellow for Fermanagh when they made the semi-finals about ten years ago. neverright (Roscommon) - Posts: 1648 - 01/10/2015 20:35:58 1794934 Link 0 |
He's handle them all on his own from Declan O Sullivan to Steven McDonnell no problem to The Roc. clondalkindub (Dublin) - Posts: 9926 - 01/10/2015 20:57:43 1794946 Link 0 |
Greengrass - I did not intend it like that, in all fairness Dublin Posters have every right to celebrate their success. Dublin are great for Gaelic Football and Gaelic Football is thriving at the moment. Even as a Kerryman, greengrass, you will have to agree that a good Dublin team is great for football. I think the best approach for teams who have aspirations of winning Sam next year is to give Dublin full credit for their success and recognise them as a great team who have won three All-Irelands in five years and three National Leagues in a row, otherwise they will only be trying to win more All-Irelands. It is best to leave Dublin celebrate and wait in the long grass. fainleog (Limerick) - Posts: 598 - 01/10/2015 21:13:54 1794955 Link 0 |
