the county breakdown nominations by percentage:

Dublin 25%
Kerry 18%
Tyrone 15%
Mayo 15%
Donegal 11%
Monaghan 9%
The field 7%

Likely outcome.

Dublin should get 7
Kerry 4
Mayo 3
Tyrone 1

I dont think there is any room for any other county. I was surprized that Galway didnt get a single nomination, they played 2 excellent back door games, and gave donegal a very good match up until the final 15 minutes.

Monaghan have only one hope of an all star, in mcmanus, but there could be a lot of competition with the bigger guns
Cant see donegal getting an all star this year despite having a number of good players to pick from, but no arguments if you dont at least make the semis.

A few tactical switches likely in positions when announcing the all stars. This will no doubt be a bigger talking point than who gets the awards, those who lose out usually are hard done by. Quotas by county are the name of the game.

I cant believe no one is mentiong Dermot Connolly for an all star.

We played 7 matches to win Sam.

He received two man of the match awards of those 7.

Bagged 2-3 against kildare.

QF - 3 wonder points against Fermanagh.

SF - Finished match with 1-2. Highest scorer in match.

SF Replay - ok had a poor game, but who could blame him after what went on the week leading up to match.

Final - Ive watched this match again a few times. The man was immense. Won two frees which were converted. Made two other scores with absolute exquisite passes. Made countless turnovers with brilliant tackling, he was all over the field. Not only an excllent stylish footballer , but an absolute workhorse. Was one of My personal nominees for MOTM in final.

I honestly think because he has set his own standards so high that people expect too much from him. Still easily better than some of the half forwards being mentioned. There seems to be this campaign to get Donnach Walsh an all star. He had a good year, an honest hard working player. But picking him over Connolly??? Come on lads, am I missing something here?

Great player indeed. But the whole suspension/appeal saga after the Mayo match could have come to haunt him. It will be interesting to see if P MCMahon will get an all star either. Deserves one hands down on his skill and what he offered footballing wise, but he could be excluded for the same potential reason as Connolly.

Donacha Walsh I don't get it.

I know but the Dublin half forwards (Kilkenny apart) hadn't great seasons. Walshe was good in the Munster championship (if provincial championships count) and he and D O Connor are the only other half forwards on a forward list that includes defenders (Martin, Harte) mid fielders and mostly from the full forward line. If you were to pick players out of their position (which is a cop out) there is no way he would make it.

I still don't get it

Maybe your right

The All Stars

Glorified Debs ceremony... (although nice for the certain few to get a holiday)

Always awkward viewing with the players appearing to be almost embarrassed by the whole thing

In the final Connolly won one free that was converted. There were four frees that were converted by Dublin, each of the following players won a free for Dublin that was converted, Rock, Andrews, Connolly and McCaffrey. D.Connolly does not deserve an All-Star in my opinion, his two games against Mayo and in the final against Kerry were not good. If there was a third forward to be selected from Dublin it should be P.Andrews but I do not think the idea of having players mostly from the All-Ireland winning team is a good idea, I think there should be a better distribution and particularly more counties included in the final selection.

Connolly Dub. I couldn't agree more. The best footballer in the game has by a country mile.

He setup the first point

I'm fairly certain he was involved in 4 scores

I've watched it back a number of times and Connolly did well in the 2nd half

Good to see Leinster well represented. Will any players from outside Dublin get onto the Leinster team for the Railway Cup? Dublin should enter the railway cup on their own as a fifth team. Generate interest!

Connolly is undoubtedly a great talent but his outstanding performances came against Longford, Kildare and the likes, when it came to Mayo and Kerry he was quite average and following the whole punching farce it would be a real shame if he got an all star because it would be setting a terrible example for young people growing up playing the game.

Donegalman, the likely outcome is that Monaghan will get one. The bookies are rarely too wrong in these matters and after the dust had settled following the final, McManus was 1/100 to win one.

His place might have been under threat if the big guns were in good form in the last few games, but most weren't.

I am not disputing the guys class, but if it means that a kerry or a dublin player loses out, then there is a lot of politics to legislate for. Couple this with the other 2 semi finalists, and there is a question mark over who gets and who does not. I didnt realize his odds were so short.

Brian from Meath. Wake up. Donie Kingston was second highest scorer from play in championship and only got four games. A class act

Nobody mentioning Sean Quigley, second in the c'ship scoring charts on a 'count-back' to O'Connor, while playing a much weaker team. I would have the three top scorers, O'Connor, Quigley and Brogan in the full forward line with O'Shea on the forty.

Best player in Ireland in 2015 was Conor McManus. He was treble marked something Bernard Brogan didn't experienced never mind double marked. Against Cavan double marked inside a suffocating blanket being pulled and dragged and punched but still showed up to kick monsters of scores to win it. Against Fermanagh on a quiet day he scored 1-6 while being marked by 3 players. Against Donegal he was the difference gave Neil McGee his worst day in a long time kicking points from all angles despite the best efforts of Donegal sneaky tactics. Even in the game against Tyrone when we was suffocated and had to come out past the 45 still being chased by three red hand men he still boomed them over. No other player got as much attention in any game as Conor. He is the best point taker bar none in Ireland. Not bad for a player that is plagued by injuries. If he played for Kerry or Dublin he would more recognition. If he played with Mayo they would have an all- ireland thats how good he is. Us in Monaghan might never win an All Ireland but we are so lucky to be able to watch McManus grace the white and blue.

No disrespect to anyone from Tyrone but I don't agree with some of the selections... surly there is many other options who could also been selected that are on par with some of the Tyrone players selected

How Chris Barret got a nominee ahead of Ollie Lyons is mad. Maybe i'm biased cos im a Kildare man but he kept Ross Munnelly (twice), Niall McNamee, Donnacha Walsh scoreless from play and scored 4 points from corner back. Barrett played two games
