Best / most competitive club championship

Dublin football is great, the standard is a lot higher than the hurling, with more teams capable of causing an upset. In contrast, there are a lot if poor matches in the hurling champo, even amongst the big teams

Yeah I wouldn't agree that our club championship is particularly strong. Competitive yes - but when you look at our record in the provincials it is pretty woeful.

Do you reckon that the standard of the county championship has gone backwards in the last decade? Mayo clubs were very strong in the All-Ireland club championship for about a decade from the mid-90s on, with Cross and Ballina winning All-Ireland titles, and several others reaching finals in that time. But other than Castlebar's run last year, Mayo clubs have been well-beaten in Connacht for the last 8 or 9 years. Is this a reflection on the standard of club ball in Mayo, or rather than other counties such as Ros and Galway have had outstanding champions during that period?

I would say that Corofin and St Brigids have had two exceptional teams over the past 10 years and with Crossmaglen added in, its a very high standard to get to and maintain, particularly when you dont have your county players all summer (which Corofin, Cross and Brigids dont have to worry about).

A competitive county championship indicates a lower standard generally except in Dublin because players get "rewarded" to play club football in the capital.

Not too many would have predicated Trillick v Killyclogher senior final in Tyrone this year. While there has been 7 different winners since 2003.

The Kerry Junior Championship not the Senior Club, the junior Championship, once you get out of Kerry you are early guaranteed a Munster and a good run in the all ireland series.. over the years Duagh, Ardfert, Cromane, Castlegregory, Skellig Rangers, Keel and Finuge have gone a long long way

Hurling has to be galway. Alas it's at the expense of the county team because there's been rumours for years the lads can't get along together because the rivalrys so strong, long before this cunningham drama
