Bernard scored 6-20 from play this year, a country mile ahead of any other forward in the country. Both great but Bernard for me

Over that general period though I'd give the nod to Bernard, he was consistently one of the best players in the country for 3 years. Alan had a great year in 2011 but I don't think he was as good the year before or after.

I'll rephrase it to Bernard 2009, 2010 and 2013 if that helps...

Bernard this year no doubt. I don't think most people appreciate his work rate and off the ball movement. He covers an enormous amount of ground. Alan on the other hand is much more composed and measured. His ability to pick out a pass and casually stoke over a point off either foot from 40 yds is second to none. But this year, Bernard is some way ahead of the rest I would say.

That Dublin team might have won 3 All Ireland's without Alan. Would have been very difficult for them to win 3 without Bernard.

Two very different players. Funny when their form seems to hit top peaks at different times during their careers. When BB was in his best form Alan was just middle of the road and when Alan exploded again for his POTY BB was not as prolific that year. Always one Brogan in top form.

All round Alan Brogan has had the much better career and a better player for Dublin.

But the deadlier forward has been Bernard no doubt but my vote goes to Alan

Hard to say. The young version of Alan was much quicker on to a ball and much better at running with the ball (his 2005 goal against us was top notch and a big score in that game) than Bernard. When he lost some of his pace he developed into a good creator of scores, especially for Bernard, who seems to play much better when Alan plays as they have a great understanding. On the other hand Bernard is a much better score taker. Hard to say one was better than the other.
