Cooper doesn't have the pace anymore which is understandable due to a horrific injury & being the wrong side of 30. If used properly he could still be vital even if he doesn't play the full 70 mins. Paul Galvin should never have been in the panel nevermind on the pitch and Fitzmaurice should be rightly questioned about that bizarre decision. Kerry need to let go of most of the old guard and build on what they have got to get a team with a new identity rather than one still stuck in the noughties. It will be at least 2 years before that will bear fruit,

The hermit
Who are you trying to kid my dear man. Can I ask you when was the last time Tipp Waterford Limerick and Clare (Clare 1992) beat Kerry ?? 1992.
And how often have they beat Kerry since say 1925 ( we will give the war of independence/ civil war a miss)
Do you think that any of them will beat Kerry , even an under strength Kerry any time soon ( if we are going by last Sunday's minor final Tipp won't)
So the ONE TEAM TO BEAT IS CORK.
And looking at Cork this year a poor Kerry team will beat them next year. So ye are in the last Eight ( last twelve if Cork do the unthinkable and beat ye)
So in my book Kerry are still going to be in the top Six at least next year. That is about the worst ye can be. So there is no point in saying Kerry will be back---- they will more than likely be in the semi final.
But consider us up here in Ulster---- Donegal could get a draw against say Tyrone or Monaghan even against ArmaghDerry or Down and especially if drawn away then I can assure you it would be no easy game. AND THAT IS ONLY THE FIRST ROUND OR INDEED SAME AS THIS YEAR A PRELIMARY ROUND WITH THREE MORE GAMES REQUIRED TO WON ULSTER.
So there is no guarantee that any of the top Ulster counties will make the last 12 and indee , unlike Kerry if they do it will take at least three games to get there
But if the Ulster counties have very little chance of winning Sam at least whoever win the Anglo Celt will know they have been in a few tight tussles and it is a very cherished trophy up here ( it's no cakewalk to win it. )

The Kingdom dont have to "rise again" since they only lost by one score after playing poorly against most likely the "team of this decade".
My Kerry cousins and in-laws do feel Cluxton did over egg it a bit using up five mins over four free kicks but are not to their credit making an issue of it partly due to being uneasy over two incidents in their 2014 victory.
1. A Kerry forward (lovely chap) running in and kicking the ball out wide just as the crestfallen Durkan was taking a kick out .. an unsporting memory from 2014 and they stress that its not the Kerry way .. none of that last Sunday in fairness.
2. The MC ("hey fella") at the Tralee homecoming making more than one attempt to ridicule Donegal most prominent forward .. calling out his name twice .. my family there feel that a classy broadcaster say like Weeshie would have found a way of heaping praise on the wonderful Kerry defenders without poking fun at a gallant loser who was in fairness a very humble winning captain a few years earlier.

Kerry lost because they weren't let play and were simply beaten by the better team, nothing to do with "not showing up". Sure anybody can use the excuse "didn't show up" when they are outplayed for 70 minutes and beaten. And if Cork can put it together next year, I wouldn't even fancy Kerry winning Munster, as Cork have a better team

Kingdomboy Gooch still has plenty top offer - but at this point I do believe he needs to be playing off a good ball winner in the FF line - not out the field trying to compensate for an ineffective half forward line. Still think a Cooper, T Walsh, Geaney FF line could be a great option next year. As for Donaghy think his day is gone. Our big issue if we face the dubs again is the lack of pace on our half forward line-buckley and O'Brien are completely ineffective against pacey defenders. Barry O'Driscoll gave an exhibition of running from wing back in the munster final drawn game.

The Kingdom were one game away from retaining Sam, and your minors have won the last two in a row.
The Kingdom wont rise again, simply because ye havent fallen.

Curlew66.
So you say that the MC at the Tralee homecoming tried to ridicule Donegal and their star forward--- IN OTHER WORDS HE PUT THE BOOT INTO DONEGAL AND THEIR STAR FORWARD
Funny how earlier this week I was accused of doing the same thing ---- putting the boot in Kerry and them after being beaten.
I d love to know what was said about MM that night in Tralee ?? I wonder could my good friend down in Kerry ( KINGDOM BOY)throw any light on it. I am very curious to know. Sure someone must be able to tell me what was said. PROBABLY NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT ANYWAY.
AND AS FOR BJ KICKING THE BALL AWAY WELL I SUPPOSE IT WAS PART AND PARCEL OF WHAT WENT ON IN THAT FINAL ON THAT DAY.

Sam, I was a bit late getting back to the home coming last year so wasn't there to hear the start of it, so I couldn't tell you what was said about Michael Murphy. To be honest I never heard anything about this at all until you brought it up.

I can't see why anyone would ridicule such a fine player and sportsman but if it was the MC, sure what would he know? You hardly think anyone involved with the Kerry team would be ridiculing their opponents.

I'd like to think the majority of Kerry people, players and supporters alike take things on the chin. Yes sometimes we go on like its the apocalypse when we lose, but that's only because we except and demand such high standards, its probably the reason we are always there to challenge.

In fairness we've contested around 50 finals, we might have won 37 but we've also lost around 20.

I've been to 8 finals myself in the last ten years, and I've seen Kerry win 4 and now lose 4.

So you know you just have to get on with it, reading a few posters thoughts on here has cheered me up and in fairness this was overall a very positive year for Kerry GAA.

Promotion to 1b and a Chritsy ring for the hurlers,

A 3 in a row of Munster titles and second final appearance for the seniors, and also putting the Tyrone thing to bed. Not to mention the heart-warming sight of seeing Gooch and Galvin back in the colours (whether you agreed with the latter decision or not he was my favourite Kerry player).

A second minor title in a row, a junior All Ireland and junior and intermediate club all Irelands.

The trophy cabinet looks pretty healthy, it does suck Dublin have got the better of us now for a third time, but sure they are a serious team and even Micko's men lost to Dublin a couple of times before they made amends.

We will let the hurt seep through over the winter and we'll be back again in February ready to give it another go and I'll always back Kerry to find a way.

An Riocht, as ever, Abu!
