2015 Football Allstars - To date

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

none of those teams will matter a sh*te come Sunday. If the final is a good one, other counties' best performers wont get a look in, we've seen it before. A player who has 6 or 7 solid championship performances behind him getting pushed aside for a bigger name who performed once when the spotlight was on. I'm not a big fan off the Allstars for this reason.

Mayo supporters putting in their own lads!! Young player will be between Mc Caffrey, and Fenton, depends on who shines on the biggest stage on Sunday!

AOS? No chance, non-existent in the big games, snuffed out completely
As for JOD, needs a huge final, otherwise what has he done?
The 2 deffos in the forwards would be brogan and kilkenny.

Don't agree with the picking of some All-Star awards. Players are moved around to accommodate them getting an award. I see some people have picked Aidan O'Shea at centre forward when he played majority of his football at full forward this year. Last year Michael Murphy collected an All-Star for centre forward and Kieran Donaghy got the full forward award. Both players played the majority of last year at full forward. Players move about during a game and again move positions especially as a forward - full forward may move out to half forward to midfield for a period.

Personally I would rather see two good players fight it out for a position rather than move them around to accommodate both players. If on looses out, such is life. We can't have two winners on Sunday because both teams played well....... One winner and the looser picks themselves up for a crack at it next year.

1787983 Diarmuid O Connor geting an all star or even young player of the year?? He had two good games in Croker, actually he had two good halves in Croker, thats all he did this year, im sure he will blossom into a quality player. Keegan may get one, depends on what happens the next day, but i think he should be Mayos only representative..

DOC was very near to be MOM against your own dear galway, and 4 points from play aginst Sligo very solid performance from DOC in all Croker outings - deserves serious consideration for All Star and def deserves the YPOTY

I'm being very generous to Tyrone and maybe a bit harsh on the finalists! Expect Moran usurp Donnelly on Sunday mind and I feel uneasy about selecting Harte when he's not strictly a centre back. Don't know how Connolly is making so many teams to date. Keegan got the better of him over two games. Having said that he'll probably have a big final Keegan is my POTY at present, though I expect a big performance from one of the Dublin or Kerry players to swing that.

Honourable mentions:

Parsons, A. O'Shea, C. O'Connor
Ronan McNabb
Rory Beggan
Michael Murphy
S. Quiqley, T. Corrigan

This would have been my 15 before sunday but if the likes of Geaney, Gooch, O Brien, Buckley, McMahon, Cluxton, C O Sullivan have good games then they might get a place ahead of someone who didn't play well on the day or didn't play in the final.

James McCarthy has been excellent. No better in that position this year.

DOC was near to be MOM!! But he didnt get it.. and ye had 9 different scorers against Sligo.. Jesus if he didnt score at least 4 points that day so poor were Sligo something def would be wrong.. As i said he played well in patches in Croker and was Mayos best forward from play ( that doesnt say much as Doherty and Mc Loughlin were very poor all year) but i feel the young player of the year will come from Dublin , they are there tomo on merit..

I must say I don't understand all the calls for Quigley to get an all-star. Yes he had a good year as did Fermanagh, and unless Brogan puts in a big scoring performance tomorrow, Quigley will finish as top scorer. But all-star material? Not for me.

He had an impressive final game against the Dubs, and put in a couple of other big scoring performances also, against Antrim especially. But there were also a couple of games where he really didn't perform, like against us in Ulster and Westmeath in the qualifiers. To get an all-star having went out in the quarter finals, you have to have been exceptional, or at least hope the competition for places isn't good in that year. Even before the final there's at least 5 players clearly ahead of him in the full-forward line, and the likes of Geaney and Andrews who are outside shots have another chance to impress. I think the full forward line as it stands would be Brogan - O'Shea - McManus, and that's leaving out O'Connor and O'Donoghue. McCurry would be ahead of Quigley too imo. So while it's nice to think Fermanagh would get one as recognition for their year, there's just too much in front of him. He'll get a nomination, he's won an Ulster all-star and he could well finish as top scorer. Not a bad year for Quigley in fairness.

A few here must be a bit embarrassed on their reply to my post on Fenton?
If Moran had the year he had and Kerry won he'd have got POTY

Surprised not even a mention of Frank McGlynn here, he was awesome this year. Best Donegal player by some distance.
