"The GAA should increase security to help try to prevent such attacks in the future."

Yes narrow minded in my view. No mention of the cricket clubs being attacked in county Derry. If it was a sectarian attack (which no one knows for sure yet) then it is terrible. If we start jumping to conclusions and blaming people for these attacks then we are just a modern example of the Diplock courts.

Instead of blaming each other for A B and C we should be trying to promote or games to other communities. Ive been to Derry games with a protestant lady who also coaches football. We need to see more of this

"Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world."
"If you want to make peace with your enemy, you have to work with your enemy. Then he becomes your partner."

Wise word from a man who most likely suffered more than 99% of keyboard warriors on here

Well said arock. Too many people up here look back not forward and dispise the people from the other side who do the same. Lead by example

Exactly and this is the point I was trying to make about the generations thing that Bren didn't quite get. We've come a long way since the 70s and 80s and over time you would hope that the divisions dilute further and the past becomes just that, the past. You're still going to have head bangers like I said previously but these have to be isolated and ignored by the mainstream so that any 'cause' they had becomes futile.

Fine reading. The attacks on clubs in the north dont compare to this at all. The GAA club is a place for the community just as these hall are for the unionist people.

Its a few idiots on each side that do this and we will never be able to stop them unless we all move on, treat them like kids and ignore them and eventually they will run out of steam

Maybe instead of shouts for lynching from mobs of online and press hangmen we should try and edcuate the side of the population that does not know the GAA. Maybe start with telling people the founder of the northern Irish state Edward Carson was a massive hurling fan and even played for Trinity

walter mitty from derry has shown his true colours, the cat is out of the bag. He is quoting wee wullie frazer and using wee wullies 'stats' and he calls it a good read!

This is the man that walter mitty from derry wants us to believe;

Ok Admin maybe my the language in my last try was a bit strong but for you to allow a post in which a possible explanation for this attack as being an "insurance job" is a disgrace to both you and the attention seeker who posted it.

Edward Carson didn't play hurling in Trinity.

He was a member of the Trinity Hurling Club which played a hockey type game that they called 'hurling' but it wasn't really like the game that came about after 1884.

He was a bit of Gaeilgeoir alright though.

In anyways. Cowardly attack on GAA club and highlights what our Northern members have to fight against in order to play our sports/engage in our culture.

Isn't that the truth, but these posts should be left up to show these people for what they are.

I'm a member of Steelstown in the city. Im not condoning any attack at all. Never once did I say that or would I say it.

Im simply (well not simple for everyone) trying to make the point that nothing is known about this attack yet everyone is making assumptions.

We live in a country or laws. We can not play the hangman. It is not our job. I didnt know that about carson. I read it a long time ago in a book on the history of the Gaa and the north. Happily stand corrected if it is true. Its more the point i was trying to make. we should try and engage people more and bring them into the GAA instead of blindly accusing people of acts simply due to their past. This is sterotyping and we all know where that can lead......or do we?

In regards to the insurance job. That was one of many POSSIBILITIES. I dont claim to know the facts to this attack unlike many other posters on here

Tom1916 I dont know anyting about that man. I avoid politics at all costs as it only causes bitterness and tribal bickering in the north. Move abroad for a few years, open your eyes and realise there is more to life that this tiny wee bit of an island to worry about

I am quite amazed at how ignorant my southerm friends are, Joxer included (I suppose I should not be surprised when one sees all the hype/rubbish being thrown into the public domain by the D based media). One guy compares the GAA with an orange hall-what sport do they play in the orange hall?. Another guy posts about a broken window, possibly broken by some kids in his own club and compares that with throwing inflammable liquid into a club house- What have these guys been watching over the last number of years.

Did I at any stage justify this, the tyrone or any other attack on any group? If so please take my deepest apologises but I dont believe I did. In fact i think i condoned any attack weather physical or verbal by saying we should leave the past where it belongs

It's definitely him, the spelling mistakes and bad grammar are the final clues.
