Brogans point

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Watching it on tv it looked wide,I think Brogan knew it went wide himself, the Dublin fans didn't cheer till the white flag went up,strange one,I thought it should have went to hawkeye but there was no protest from Mayo. watched it back on both sky and rte and it looks a foot wide.

It was over! I was standing behind it. It looked it was gonna curl wide but stayed through. Honest neutral here.

Doesn't matter what BB's facial expression was like. It was a point cos it went over the bar.

Yes as somebody else mentioned, the ref is alerted by the Hawkeye review system if the umpires make an incorrect call and will then make the signal to review it. That it didn't happen in this case just confirms it was a point.

Hi everyone,

If you look through the GIF on balls.ie and click on the actual GIF, you will see some options at the bottom right. Pause the video and then click the forward button. You will eventually get to a point whereby the ball crosses through post. If you look at that paused image you can clearly see the post in front of the ball. Unless I am going blind (which I hope not) and the goalkeeper looking upwards is having some weird visions above him, the point is good. Hard enough job being a referee and umpire these days, especially after that match yesterday but this controversy is a non-issue from yesterday. Sent a copy of this paused image on to the Independent's website for comment.

Kind regards,

1778833 If an incorrect call is made by an umpire the referee is alerted by hawk eye and he calls for it to be used. I would have no doubt it was a point

So you're saying Hawkeye is monitoring the umpires and if it thinks an umpire has made an incorrect decision it alerts the referee? I'm gobsmacked; it's capabilities are astounding.
