Will Dublin & Mayo get the Tyrone treatment?

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Royaldunne, you may consider us "Nordies" but for us living in the North of our Island we don't just consider that as condescending but we shudder at the lack of nationalism displayed by a fellow Irishman. From your name and attitude we would tend to categorise you in a "West Brit" generalisation grouping but we wouldn't dare to refer to you in this way in a post. Whatever point you are trying to make, can't you try to do it in a more respectful manner.

Agree RoyalDunne, Tyrone must be to blame for the antics in today's game. Makes sense.

Johnny Cooper in that moment tried to seriously injure a player. I don't like seeing any player miss big games and on top of that, Johnny Cooper is one of the best defenders in the game, but that incident should carry a suspension in my opinion. And I'm not one of those "don't like how the game is going, what sort of example does that set" type people. But in the context of other suspensions, it would seem very wrong to me if Cooper is not punished.

Also by the way, I would be very interested to see many other incidents in the game in case I'm called anti-Dublin. But the cameras caught Cooper red-handed on that one unfortunately for him you might say.

Joxer in reflection of yourself and others on here in the last few weeks why are you so surprised when myself and others want to see equal treatment of unsavoury incidents?

Bs, today was ott, but to try to likened it to the action of McCann is chalk and cheese.

Eh? McMahon went down holding his face when he was barely touched. What's the difference? He also headbutted O'Shea, Cooper kicked Diarmuid O'Connor (shocking challenge), Cluxton kicked O'Shea as well apparently, couple of black cards, Connolly sent off.

Yet the McCann incident's worse than all of that combined??

Nothing compared to the play acting of Tyrone over past few season, i don't like the cynicism that has came into football one bit, there was some very marginal hits today that bordered on the way over top, i say it again, the way the game has gone is incorrect but who is to blame? I mean if two ulster teams were playing today theyd be saying it was tough ulster football. Bs, today was ott, but to try to likened it to the action of McCann is chalk and cheese.

Well said Royal. A lot of tough stuff today but nothing of the rolling around holding the face after a hair toss variety.

Terrible to see sledging and Headbutting from Tyrone. Yes Mayo guilty of some offences too but they were dragged into it by Tyrone who were up to their usual tricks.

I personally don't like to see fellas getting banned for retrospective incidents but the tone was set with Tyrone and the Tiernan McCann furore. There are an awful lot of posters who love to highlight every negative incident involving them BUT when their own counties are in the mix they don't like it a bit. Some of the same posters who stuck the boot into Tyrone are now calling people calling out the cynicism today as "Nordie whingers". The hypocrisy and double standards are galling. Well these people set the tone and reap what they sow. Tyrone people and other Ulster Gaels will continue to point out the duplicity until these same hypocrites are sick of it. As I say you reap what you sow.

Redhandroar. By your response i guess you are quite young. And if i may say so not too insightful of our country, my username is taken from Meath been the royal county, ie high kings of Ireland and all that, i mean that's second class history surely you know that? And the term nordies is not a derogatory term at all, it donates where you from, i have hundreds of times referred to Westmeath as the westies , in doing so i am not equating them to a crime gang, i also refer to dubs as jackeens (btw im married to one) i have no problem with anyone calling me a midlander as that is where i live, so get that chip off your shoulder and as for me mentioning Tyrone?? Did you read the title of the thread?

Because you're comparing chalk with cheese. Look at McAlliskey last week and McCann. Did you see that behaviour today? Dublin were PUNISHED today on the pitch. What happenef to McCann and McAlliskey? Seeing as though you're talking about equality of treatment and all that like????

Roughly translated as: 'We kicked, we punched, we head-butted, we dragged men down, we had 3 men removed from the field, we sledged, we feigned injury......but at least we didn't do anything nearly as bad as what Tyrone did.'

Grow up, Joxer. You've spent the last fortnight on here masquerading as some disciplinary white knight. All people want is a bit of consistency and honesty - there are none of us saints, you and yours included.

Indeed Royaldunne if there's a few things that 'Nordies' are good at they are grudges, point scoring and long memories, the past 40 years will confirm that. The injustice, unfairness and hypocrisy that Tyrone and other Ulster counties are subjected to within the GAA is stored in the memory and EVERY negative incident and cynical play that other counties get up to will be posted and highlighted by us again....and again..... and again.

Theroghtstuff where did i say Donegal weren't disciplined?? Please point that out to me!!! .
I think you need to read my posts again. I said certain ulster counties have done a lot worse, it ain't all about Donegal man get over it.
And i think everyone is missing the real issue, Aidan oshea , what a class act , in the days of falling to the ground as if you been shot for a ruffled hair, Aidan stood his ground. His response today should be seen as a example, now i have been very critical of Aidan in the past but credit where credit is due

RoyalDunne, not that young! The point I was making was, whether intentionally or not, referring to Irishmen resident in the North as "Nordies" is, whether you realise it or not, condescending at best. As mentioned we might consider people from in or around the Pale as West Brits but I bet you wouldn't like to be referred to by this. I only mention this to try to give you an idea of what it's like for us to be categorised as "Nordies".

Joxer how is it chalk and cheese? Maybe you were at the match today and didn't see clearly the theatrics of Philly McMahon when O'Shea rubbed his hair. There was no difference between that and McCann's a few weeks ago, and before you start I thought McCann's was a disgrace as well, I just hate seeing one fella taking all the flack for all the practitioners of that dark art. You and others have opened a can of worms with your comments on here in recent times so it would be nice to see a bit of accountability when one of your own is at it.
