Hard to know mes what Morgan was at.I watched last ten minutes of 2012 loss to Mayo yesterday and Dublin were awarded a free from about 40 yards out in dying minutes. We were 3 points down.Cluxton came up and delivered a dangerous ball into the square,in which we were quite unluckly not to score a goal.Think O Gara got a fist to it but it was saved on the line.If Morgan was trying the same,it was a poor effort. If he was trying for a point,it was equally poor.He had a woeful day at the office. cuederocket (Dublin) - Posts: 5084 - 27/08/2015 15:28:40 1777148 Link 0 |
McAliskey should have fisted to McCurry in first half of game on Sunday - would have been a certain goal. Brolly (Monaghan) - Posts: 4472 - 27/08/2015 15:31:57 1777152 Link 0 |
This is my take on it: Morgan was called up to take the free, but seemed to realise himself that time was quickly running out (there was a short conversation before he took the ball). He was told to go for a point and this is what he did, but never set himself properly nor took his time over it as he normally would, and instead rushed a kick. I'd strongly suspect that this was because running through his mind was the realisation that shooting was the wrong option. What resulted was a rushed, half-hearted kick for a point that tailed short and wide. Thomas Clarke (Tyrone) - Posts: 1002 - 27/08/2015 15:48:58 1777166 Link 0 |
