Darragh Doherty - An Appreciation A sadness hangs over the Yew Trees Old Plain, News of tragedy filters from dear old Kilmaine; Another young Gael taken long before time, The parish church bells toll a sorrowful chime.
Less than two years have passed since that Golden September, His cherished display we will always remember; When in six minutes flat he dashed the hearts of Tyrone; With a goal and two points he brought Tom Markham home.
He played with great poise and a confident grace, The short stylish haircut and a smile on his face; To the green and red cause he gave all that he had, For his time to be cut short is so desperately sad.
His skills, so precocious, we won't see again, and the heart has been ripped out of dear old Kilmaine; His star has burned bright for too short a time, As the parish church bells toll their sorrowful chime.
The Land of the Heather mourns another lost son, No words can make sense of his loss, far too young; Dear Darragh, we pray that Our Lord holds you near, From a grateful home place, who will cherish you dear. C.F. 26/08/2015

Beautiful post , honestly he's the only player I can remember from that minor final I was even asking Mayo posters last year was he on the panel yet cause he was so good, God rest his soul.
So so sad! Rip Daragh, condolences to his family and friends! Whilst we all get uptight about Sundays game this awful tragedy puts it all in perspective!
