Tyrone 2015

Lads, did Tyrones playacting and diving come back to bite them in the arse yesterday with respect to the second penalty call ???
if so, is that a karma of sorts?

I don't think it was, the SG showed that it wasnt a Pen but in real time thats harder to determine, I believe if we didnt get the first Pen then we may have got the second. The chances of getting 2 Pens in 1 game never mind in 15 minutes are very slim especially when you play a high ball into the box.

Tyrone have been fortunate to get where we were, got the easiest provincial winners in Monaghan. If we got the other 3 I think we would have been out in the QF's. Thats the down side of the Back door system we got poor teams in Sligo, Tipp, Limerick and Meath.

To win a U-21 AI and reach an AI semi final was a reasonably successful year for Tyrone.

In my opinion I do not think the 2nd pen shout was one despite what some elements of the media think. Even the first pen was very soft, the Tyrone player over carried the ball for me and made a hash of the obvious goal chance. I do however think that Enright should have got a black card and a yellow card for the Tyrone full back rather than a black card. That was a very ugly challenge on Gooch at the end and deserved a red card. The 2 mins injury time was again a joke.

Tyrone are in a good place. I think they will go very close to winning Ulster next year. The players introduced this year will develop further. In Mickey Harte they have a great manager even if he likes to bury his head in the sand regularly.

@find the space...A fair enough summary. The draw did suit Tyrone to get Monaghan, any of the other teams from the qualifiers would have suited us too!! I think deserving though is fair to say. Tyrone battled through and played the game as was required to win each time. I was very impressed with what I saw on Sunday and I don't think we would have fared any better. It will be interesting to see how things go next year for us all!

Their biggest downfall was losing a lot of decisions as a result of the previous negative publicity of the Monaghan game, and they wasted a few easy chances that could have still got them a draw or possibly a win despite the referee Maurice Deegan.

I agree they didn't take their chances but the rest of that paragraph is complete rubbish, simple as that really.

Tyrone of the 00s were a great team that I genuinely admire who didn't need excuses or pity me complaints but the embarrassing excuses and constant attempts to play the victim of the current Tyrone team is sickening to listen to. Please just shut the F up and get on with your football.

Wise up Htaem

The Tyrone team of the 00s took a few years to win respect, and be considered a great team. It was really only after the 2005 AI that Tyrone started to be referred to as a very good team, and after 2008 they were considered a great team.

And like it or lump it, Officials can be Influenced by publicity in the run up to a big game. And I thought it was clear that Tyrone lost the majority of the 50:50 decisions on Sunday, and who can blame Maurice Deegan for having doubts after the negative publicity directed at Tyrone in the run up to this game.
And a significant amount of that came from your own Colm O'Rourke, who went as far as to highlight Incidents with Tyrone's Minor's, U21's and Seniors this year.

There is no doubting Kerry's quality, they are the reigning All Ireland Champions. However I felt there was very little between the sides, and around the 45th or 50th minute I felt Tyrone were marginally better and had a real chance of pulling away. They looked sharper, and definitely looked to have more pace and gears on the break. With all the top sides as past 4 years having a lot of miles on the clock, this Tyrone side could emerge as a significant player over the next 3 or 4 years. Definitely fresh and hungry looking.

Well of course it took a few years, all teams must earn/win respect and naturally respect for that team grew as the decade went on and they won more All-Ireland's, they were a truly great team and they deserve our respect. However the current Tyrone team hasn't done much to win the respect of a lot of people, but worst of all is constantly coming out playing the victim and blaming everyone bar themselves, this is all just utter tripe and deserves to be treated as such.

Refs are only human so they can be influenced and they make mistakes but to suggest that Tyrone lost the majority of 50/50 decisions is highly biased and it further feeds into this myth that the world is against them. For a start I don't think Maurice Deegan is a great referee anyway but I didn't think he was noticeably harsh on either team and also don't forget that Tyrone got a soft penalty and were correctly denied a second one.

As for Colm O'Rourke's criticism, you say it like it means something to me, it doesn't, I'm genuinely not even aware of what he's said about Tyrone, nor what Brolly's been saying nor Spillane, nor Whelan etc etc etc. I've said many times that I rarely watch any analysis and I certainly don't read the majority of what they write either, I just have no interest, I love watching the games, not hearing the 'opinions' of attention seekers.

That's a perfectly reasonable paragraph, I have no major issues with it, only time will tell if Tyrone are to become AI contenders again, they certainly know how to defend very well and they can attack at great speed, but they do need a few more marquee players, particularly up front.
