for all the slagging cluxton gets on HS, ye still all pick him :)

We've been through this Liam, over and over. .

All-Stars, POTY Awards, Dream Teams, etc etc. These type of selections are all media influenced with casual fans buying into any hype created (i mean look at the amount of attention the Tiernan McCann incident is getting - strange that thats the incident RTE concentrated more on than any other over the last couple of weeks??).

The same can be said of the notion that Cluxton is a top class goal keeper.

1770200 Lads, if Francie Bellew isn't in your starting 15 you don't know football.

Chuck Norris fears Francie ;-)

Neil McGee - 1 All-Ireland but 3 All Stars at Full Back in last 10 years and still playing.
Francie Bellew - 1 All-Ireland and 1 All star in his 8 year career.
Francie was a great clubman with Crossmaglen but not one of the top inter-county full backs of the 15 year period.
If we are just picking best players, Darren Fay is best full back listed without a doubt but not over the that 15 year period.

I see every single poster picked Cluxton, understandably so. Who would be the 2nd choice keeper I wonder?

Darren Fay was past his best at this stage so I would not go for him,but Kevin Reilly should be at least on the list..

In fairness too Fay he still played up untill 08 and 07 he was exceptional, particularly in QFwin against Tyrone so although he was far better when younger he still played and performed her well well into the 15 years time frame. Francie Not a patch on Fay...Moynihan and McGee are closest imo. ciaran McDonald the only mayo man I'd consider as of yet, they fail too do or on the big day unfortunately so that's why I left them out.

So basically Cavanman....your right, EVERYONE ELSE is wrong, and the entire population of HS users are media led puppets with no brain.....except for you...
ok :)

Cluxtons place as top man is so certain that the other boys (non dubs) have taken to actually picking huis understudy!!
But your right of course!!!

ha!

Even if Fay was past his best he was still good enough to win an All Star and GPS team of the year. The best full back of the past 15 years.

Did Francie Bellew ever play corner back for Armagh? Is a pick here for corner or full back.

Coonaughton best keeper by a mile. Everyone just going with the flow , cluxton great playmaker/freetaker. But shot stopper? Nah. Ask any Meath forward from 10 , Kerry couple years back or Fermanagh even :). Good all rounder but Imo the principle job of gk is to shot stop and he not near best in last 15 years.
Also would argue re fay , best years behind him at that stage, however geraghty would have still been top and should be included.

Liam,

It looks like royaldunne agrees, slayer made good points on a recent thread also, and i remember when a specific thread was debating the subject about 3 years ago, the valid points made about his discipline, shot stopping and random moments of madness weren't argued with, the posters who made those points (not me btw) were subjected to personal insults instead.

I see your point Royaldunnr but even past his best I think Fay was the best fullback of the past 15 years. Shows how low fullback's standards are when Ger Cafferkey can win an All Star.

in todays game being great at kickouts is way more important then being a brillaint shotstopper.

example, Durcan in last years final aha
