I think had we won the Ulster final we'd be in an All-Ireland semi final right now. The team puts everything in to the Ulster championship with the view that not only will you have a medal in your pocket but you'll also have a bit of time to prepare for your quarter final. I don't think Donegal fans or the panel would ever take the view that "it might be better" to get knocked out and start again in the qualifiers. Some teams suit the qualifiers, no doubt, but I don't think we're one of them necessarily, not any more. JoeSoap (Donegal) - Posts: 1432 - 11/08/2015 15:24:15 1768144 Link 0 |

Correct about the attrition rate for Ulster Champions. Which is exactly why any Ulster representatives opposing changes to the championship would be nuts. tyroneed (Tyrone) - Posts: 753 - 11/08/2015 18:39:23 1768314 Link 0 |
Monaghan didn't exactly have a tough route to the Ulster final. They've been unlucky twice to be drawn against a Tyrone team who had their measure. Sure Munster champions have lost to Ulster qualifier counties in the quarter-finals before. Just the way it goes. legendzxix (Kerry) - Posts: 7868 - 11/08/2015 19:06:44 1768324 Link 0 |
This thing about Ulster teams being burned out by the time they get to QFs.... and Kerry etc getting a handy run through. BIG SACKS (Tyrone) - Posts: 1681 - 11/08/2015 20:02:47 1768354 Link 0 |
