Kerry vs Tyrone Aug 23rd

Tyrone playing well are very hard to break down. They were impossible to break down when we played them in the league. This game will be close. I think Kerry will win as their superior firepower adding to the fact Moran should win enough possession to supply them will win through but you just never know...last year everyone said Mayo would finally beat their tormentors in Kerry who are in transition.....could something similar happen to Kerry v Tyrone this year?

I'm really looking forward to this one. I think the Red Hands have a great chance.

Everything points to a Kingdom win but I expect there to be a big bite out of Tyrone and can see a 2 point win for the red hand county, there hasn't been a word about this game everyone is talking Dublin up and that suits both Kerry and Tyrone

Expect Kerry to come through this one but will be a close affair, till at least 60 mins or so anyway!

Wouldn't be surprised to see a few Tyrone lads see Black and or Red cards!!

Where do you keep getting this "everyone is tlaking abvout Dublin" stuff from Riverboys? Serious question.

Is there a big crowd coming down from the woods of Tyrone?

Got the ticket yesterday off the county board, only upper Cusack left. Looks like they'll be around 60k at it judging by that.

In other news, bloody Cork; football, hurling of the Rose you'd lose your house beating on them!

Many a Kerry lad and lass went to uni in Cork. As long as you didn't flaunt your affiliation, I think the natives have been more than hospitable. Expecting them to root for us when we roadblock them more often than not is pushing it... especially this year when they had us as good as sunk the first day.

The mot is bringing up the crowd from Corca Dhuibhne for this game so I have to endure them and get the 'corporate tickets' again now that they have a taste for it!!
Kerry to win this easily after half the Tyrone team get sent off for playing the wrong code of football.
Then we will suffer a Kerry/Tyrone faux love-in for a while then Kerry will win the AI against Mayo because they are unbeatable!

ehh right so Riverboy...thanks for the answer. Although the newspapers I'm reading have plenty of build up to this Sundays match...if you can be bothered to look for it.

I see McCann is now free to play on Sunday.

As I argued at lenght in another discussion topic, what kind of single is this sending out?

The GAA moved to make a strong statement of intent with this ban, so as to rid itself once and for all of this stuff in our game.

Now they've bowed to the media furore around the lenght of the ban, and we are back to square one.

And the people who are calling for this play acting to be eradicated are also the ones celebrating McCann's clearance to play.

You can't have it both ways.

Madness....

I think they bowed twice hermit, that seems to be their norm these days. Anyway, it will be interesting to see if the defunct ban has any effect on the match on Sunday, hopefully, the fact that it's been so highlighted will reduce the gamesmanship. Fingers crossed!

Let me summarise this in the most simple of terms, for the benefit of you, Jimbodub, DoireCityFC and a couple of others who, caught up as you are in a red-hand feeding frenzy, are unable to read the countless posts of more balanced forumites on here:

1) Nobody agrees with what Tiernan McCann did or wants to see it happen again; however...

2) In this country, be it in our sports or wider society, we have rules and associated sanctions for non-adherence. Anyone who breaks those rules is punished fairly and consistently. We don't scapegoat people, or make an example of them 'to send a message'. They do that in some countries, but I suspect that you wouldn't enjoy living in those places very much.

Thats a nice utopian country you live in.

However, in sports and in wider society, the "haves" dont get punished and the "have nots" get punished.

Ok Thomas,

But I will remind you off all this again when we are all on here next July talking about the same thing that is ruining our games but which no one seems willing to do anything about.

God forbid what's going to happen if we see a similar incident over the next two Sundays!

The Hermit i think the right decision was made to overturn the ban, it would be unfair on McCann if he was suspended and the likes of Shields this year and O Mahony in 08 getting away with a similiar dives trying to get their opponent sent off.

The GAA cant single out certain actions and turn a blind eye to others. However i do agree with you that it needs to be dealt with but the suspension rule for diving needs to be implemented from the very first game of the year and not whenever they feel like it.

Hope this game is reffed fairly. I wouldn't be surprised to see some rough tactics to stop quick Tyrone kickouts or quick break out from defence. Let's hope that fouling to slow the Tyrone quick game down is punished.

We will push up on ye'r kickouts and that's for sure , but there is nothing illegal in doing that and hopefully we'll intercept a few of his short kickouts and and get a few goals from it like we did to Donegal last year.
