For those saying Tyrone need a scoring forward they do have one. He's only after leaving school this year. Fella by the name Lee Brennan. Kicked 1-10 in a championship game for his club. In a few years he could be something special. gotmilk (Fermanagh) - Posts: 4971 - 23/08/2015 18:52:22 1774763 Link 0 |
Tyrone folk can give about the ref all day long but they passed up three goals that would of won them the match. They missed them, the rest is history and have only themselves to blame. Its horrible to lose in the manner that Tyrone lost today, losing not because you were second best in terms of ability, but losing because you didn't take your chances. But thats football for you. seany16 (Dublin) - Posts: 1658 - 23/08/2015 18:57:43 1774767 Link 0 |
Good game today, very close first half with little between the teams, Tyrone needed a goal in first I felt to win the game, but Tyrone at the start of send half gifted 3 points to Kerry and after that I always felt Kerry were going to win. Brown cows, most refs would not have given them the penalty they got. neverright (Roscommon) - Posts: 1648 - 23/08/2015 19:30:46 1774786 Link 0 |
neveright - most ref who know and can apply the rules would certainly have given the two penalties and when you put a hand on a forwards back and push him to the ground it is a clear penalty inside the area-you would get away with it in rugby. The umpires should have a say in what is or is not a penalty or perhaps include playback or something similar, as these incidents are deciding results browncows (Meath) - Posts: 2342 - 23/08/2015 19:57:01 1774801 Link 0 |
Well done to Kerry. Johnny Buckley and Donncha Walsh were very good, with Walsh in particular having a cracking game. MesAmis (Dublin) - Posts: 13718 - 23/08/2015 20:02:18 1774803 Link 0 |
Feel sorry for the Kerry folk. It seems there teams never win a game without the help of the referee. Good game under terrible conditions. Sporting with no malicious hits. Congratulations to both teams. Gaa Fan (USA) - Posts: 749 - 23/08/2015 20:03:09 1774804 Link 0 |
Great game. This Tyrone team is very close to the finished article - played really well and if had took any goal chance would have won - don't think Kerry had any goal chances! Disgrace from the ref not to give second penalty which could have been a game changer (did he give mcnulty a yellow for diving??). Morgan should have taken last couple of frees for Tyrone also. Dodgy 45 in first and blatant black card in second half - ref copped out and gave a yellow. Kerry though just seemed to have a little bit more craft up front when it came to taking points. Much better game than I expected especially in the conditions. Tyrone showed when they cut out the cynical approach they have a fine team who can play the game at speed. The goal chances they missed cost them the game, not the referee. murof (Kildare) - Posts: 480 - 23/08/2015 20:27:28 1774817 Link 0 |

We lost the game by not taking our goal chances. Two crucial points given away by bad kick outs. Maybe should have had a second penalty but... We'll be back . Tyrone and proud. Redhandsam (Tyrone) - Posts: 93 - 23/08/2015 21:14:46 1774867 Link 0 |
Kerry were the better team and I think they would have won even if the ref hadn't made a lot of bad calls. But that dosent make it ok. Refs should have to answer for the calls they make. What tyrone have done in previous games should not influence refs in the future. Every team should start a game with a clean slate. You see it at club level where refs clearly don't like certain players regardless of how much they are fouled. When it's live on tv how can refs get away with it. galwayfball (Galway) - Posts: 1678 - 23/08/2015 21:20:58 1774871 Link 0 |

Difference between the 2 teams was Eamon Fitzmaurice, at half time Mickey Harte probably told his team that they are playing well and to stick with the game plan, Eamon Fitz probably told his team to watch the Tyrone kickouts, make sure you pressurize them and don't run into tackles release the ball before a Tyrone player lays a hand on you, which is what they done. Eamon Fitz was the difference, he has beaten 2 defensive teams at their own game, he is fast becoming a brilliant manager, one of the best riverboys (Mayo) - Posts: 1389 - 23/08/2015 21:56:11 1774897 Link 0 |

Dublin will fancy their chances of scything through the Kerry "soft" defence. plike (Kerry) - Posts: 569 - 24/08/2015 08:42:26 1774916 Link 0 |
Well done to Kerry, they were the better team and fully deserved their win, I haven't seen the game back but I don't think blaming the ref is a valid excuse, he's not a great ref anyway but I don't think he was particularly harsh on either team. Sean Cavanagh could help Tyrone's future chances by keeping his opinions to himself. Whatever he says now, regardless of justification, will be misquoted and used against the red hand brigade. Pity. Why? They are shaping up to be a real force... and the rub of the green (if not the black) wouldn't hurt. plike (Kerry) - Posts: 569 - 24/08/2015 09:14:33 1774924 Link 0 |
