I remember hearing that the Dublin A v B games were the 2 best teams in Leinster playing,I thought Dublin were a much better outfit, maybe this shows the problem with how the championship is structured,Dublin arrive at semi final stage untested.
I think Mayo have them rattled and will win the replay.

O'Gara is a loss but Dublin know that with several months, Costelloe has got very little time playing with Dublin, can only be considered a fringe player. The other losses are self inflicted, perhaps D.Connolly may yet play on Saturday. Kerry won the All-Ireland last year without C.Cooper.

No problem at all clondalkin, just use some of these marvellous subs we have all been hearing about.

You know the ones I'm talking about, the fellas that would walk on to any county team in Ireland.

With such sporting Goliaths at your disposal you'll be grand, just grand.

We were missing Clarke and Cunniffe the last day. Evan Regan still hasn't recovered from a double shoulder injury and Mickey Conroy who was just coming back from injury is now out for the year. On top of that Donie Vaughan will also be missing. Our lack of cover at the back may come back to haunt us. Unfortunately s**t happens.

This is what happened to Donegal. It happens to all teams, if they dont find replacements.
After years of championship football they start to breakdown and there is nothing anyone can do about it

I was reading an article from a professional rugby coach and he gave a time scale of five years
before players start to slow down and pick up injuries.
he said it is an unavoidable consequence of high octane sport

I never said you weren't missing any players I just said O Gara Mannion Costello and Connolly are huge losses for us, big panel or not you can't be missing for of your top forwards Muck no team could.

Dublins top forwards are Bernard & Alan Brogan, Paul Flynn, Diarmuid Connolly, K.Kilkenny,P.Andrews & K.Mcmenamin, the only doubt is D.Connolly and he will probably be available on Saturday also. You also have Dean Rock available.

Regarding Dubs and their bench not being as good as we think it is.To put it straight.Other counties highlighted this massive panel of ours to the point where they felt we should be split.Dubs are more downbeat about such things. We know that regardless of players coming through, we will be hampered when the quality of a Connolly or ROC are missing. Like anyone else we hope the players coming in can do a job . Our subs are generally reliable. Kev Mc, Mick Fitz and AB contributed on Sunday. As a game opens up, subs need to be up to the task of making a difference. That's why they make the panel.

That leaves us with only Kev Mac for impact please say your not trying to tell me that them players missing are not massive losses to Dublin?

Connolly would be a massive loss.
O'Gara also a loss.
Costello & Mannion are only fringe players

Clondalkindub - You cannot say they are huge losses when 3 of those players would be on the substitute bench i.e they are not first choice players and with regard to the fourth D.Connolly there is a good chance that he will be available on Saturday.

Mayo pretty thin on the ground as well

Currently out are Cunniffe and Vaughan in backs who would be 2 more or less starters. Or would be defo first subs

In forwards - missing Regan and Conroy. Only backup have there is Freeman and A. Moran. Maybe Dillon but I think he's past it.
Ronaldson and Mikey Sweeney are too small.

Fainelog how are they not huge losses? That is 4 big players

As Clondalkin pointed out, only Kev mc to come on outside the 6 starters he named.. In a game where the full squad is required it means we have some big losses..

Alan Brogan could also be missing giving the blow he took at the end.. ROC and Cooper also picked up injuries..

Costello is no fringe player he just can't stay fit Mannion is in USA and we be a guarantee starter next summer just like he was in '13 , two of the most exciting young players in Ireland are not fringe players.

It kind of puts to bed the claim Dublin should be split in two....the top 4/5 teams could field a second team etc etc....fact is take 2/3 good players out of any team and they will be stretched.

AthCliath - I have already explained in regard to the four players. With regard to A.Brogan ROC and J.Cooper, they will all be fit and ready to go. If any of the backs are not performing, John Small will be more than capable of performing, see how well he did the last day. He saved the day for Dublin.

Same could be said for Mayo -Durkan was very good when he came on, freeman, dillion, andy and barry moran.. All very capable

Let's not even talk about the Kerry bench.. The players Clondalkin has alluded to would be the ones we would bring on but they are not available this year..

It will be very interesting what way Mayo start the game the next day.

Will young Drake start again to provide extra cover for their back line or will they instead start the likes of Andy or Barry Moran and go for it at the start.

Mayo have a very good ball winning midfield in Parsons and O Shea and they really have to push up on Cluxtons kick outs if they are to take the game to Dublin from the start but this does take alot of effort for a full 70 minutes. If they do start with an extra defender then it makes pressing up on the kickouts even tougher.

More support has to be given to O Shea in the full forward line but the drawn game will give Mayo a great insight in how to adapt their gameplan. This will be another close game..point or two either way..should be a cracker

I was thinking the same KY. When Mayo went at Dublin in the last 10 it was yielding results, albeit Dublin were seriously depleted at that stage. I think if Mayo do that from the get go then it will leave space at the back and Dublin could tear them apart, like the league meeting. If Mayo retreat like the first half on Sunday then I don't believe that they have enough firepower to do damage. O'Shea and O'Connor both held scoreless by a really good Dublin defensive display. Dublin need to be much more disciplined in the tackle and need big games from Small and/or Fitzy if they play. Both teams have learned a lot and you would hope for a more open game now that the nerves are out of the way. I think Mayo are better placed for the replay, mentally right and will have their key players available.
