Are Tyrone genuine contenders?

Probably capable of beating a contender but doubt they have it to go all the way

I think in fairness the fella was just crying out "no forwards" as an automatic response to any question since the weekend. Delayed shock they call it.

If I was describing cork it would be more along the lines of no balls

The Monaghan v Tyrone quarter-final winner will be expected to make the final.

Sure they will.... The great deflectors in Kerry never miss an opportunity....much like their forwards!

I think Tyrone will beat Monaghan and after that you never know . Monaghan just bloody beat us but that's about it ; I'd fancy Tyrone to put it up to Kerry on the semis .

I don't think that this current Tyrone group have an All-Ireland in them this year but those who would see themselves as in the hunt for Sam will probably be happier to see Tyrone beaten as they certainly have the capacity to be akward opponents for any of the teams left. On form they go into Saturday's game v Sligo as favourites but ambitions beyond that is just media chat.
The cork man who commented earlier is right this current Tyrone squad appear to be missing the 2 consistent killer forwards needed to win games at the highest level

I've been pretty indifferent to this Tyrone team until this thread. Might row in behind them as underdogs now.

I hope they don't go much further. No offence but their style of football is terrible to watch. 15 men behind the ball, I wouldn't care if I never saw them play again.

You could never write a team managed by Micky Harte off,and these Tyrone lads are quality players,I think they'll beat Monaghan and will give Kerry a good tough battle,
but I think the All Ireland winners will be from the other side of the draw and it isn't likely to be us,if Mayo don't choke again on the big day it could be their year at last.

Baron when was the last time you watched Tyrone? They tackle high up the pitch. Would people prefer that once a player gets past a man that they stop or keep working?

Don't forget that, if Tyrone and Galway win on Saturday, Tyrone will play Mayo.

What I love is how Tyrone aren't even in the quarters yet, and so many people are tipping them to beat us and give Kerry a big game in the semi. It seems the form of the last couple of years means little and people are still living in the 00's, and if that game does come about then we could be underdogs again, which would suit us just fine. Again that match-up is a long way off as it stands, but if it does come about then I'd be very disappointed if we couldn't beat Tyrone. But sure it's all talk at this stage, we could easily be meeting Galway either.

I think they have a healthy outsie chance, they got a good draw for a change in the back door, and it has helped them to get going again. Their confidence is high, and the quality is there. The consistency may not be up there with the likes of the dubs, kerry or indeed mayo, but on their best day they will give anyone their fill of it.

The winners of monaghan or tyrone will have a mammoth game in the semis. I would give monaghan slim hope. I would give tyrone a more healthy outside chance, if it is kerry that is. Should by some miracle kildare make it, I would give tyrone or monaghan a good chance.

I think Tyrone are genuine contenders, they have the ability to beat the likes of Kerry, Monaghan, Mayo and even Dublin. Basically they have the ability to beat any of the other sides on any given day, and that is enough to make them genuine contenders.

To be realistic contenders we would have to beat Sligo and hope that Galway beat Donegal. We struggle badly with Ulster teams and would want to avoid Monaghan. We beat Mayo handy in the league and should have done the same to Dublin. Once in the final anything goes. Not sure why a Dub is worrying if Tyrone are genuine contenders, I would worry more about my own team. There is a big blanket coming somewhere along the line.

Tyrone are not a good team they have had a fairly easy draw so far and should beat Sligo. They are lacking in the forwards due to defections earlier in the season. But they are Tyrone. On their day they could beat most teams as long as luck ran with them. Still they would need at least 3 big matches and that seems a bit much.

Donegal will beat Galway leaving Tyrone to play Monaghan and I would expect a Tyrone win. Kerry will come through the other side and face Tyrone. I would favour Tyrone to beat Kerry tbh. I think this Kerry team is way overated. This would leave Tyrone in an AI final against probably Dublin and anything can happen in a final. Definate contenders!!

Apart from Donegal, who Tyrone have consistently struggled against in recent years, I don't see Tyrone having anybody else in Ulster to worry them.
