Fair point.Kilkenny would have finished Cork off before the break.Thats good new re N McGrath.Even if he gets 30 minutes, his silky skills could see him pick off a couple of points.I think J Tyrell is a big loss for Kilkenny.Thats Jackie & JJ gone from last years All Ire full back line.Waterford are not without a chance here.If its close at ht,i think these young Deise bucks are in with a great shout.Big if i know, but its not a foregone conclusion that KK will win.And ive backed KK every yer since 2003. cuederocket (Dublin) - Posts: 5084 - 29/07/2015 20:20:57 1761040 Link 0 |
Is Noel Connors going to be fit for Waterford? I hadn't heard much more about his injury Marlon_JD (Tipperary) - Posts: 1823 - 29/07/2015 20:35:28 1761049 Link 0 |
Noel Connors chances seem to be 50/50 according to the management team but Connors himself believes he'll be fit to start and i think he will start. Some posters here saying Waterford will get well beaten playing a sweeper as Hogan will have too much space further out but to be fair I think if we don't play a sweeper TJ Reid will get goals in full forward. Waterford simply have to play a sweeper early on and then tweak the system as the game progresses. PullHard7 (Waterford) - Posts: 53 - 29/07/2015 21:36:48 1761077 Link 0 |
If Waterford still had John Mullane they would then be in with a serious chance. I think they just don't have that real serious forward that the rest of the teams left have. therealtmo (Tipperary) - Posts: 1292 - 30/07/2015 11:22:36 1761141 Link 0 |
I never said that we will beat KK. I just said that I will relish the chance to play them.and if they do hammer us out the gate. So be it, we had a great year so I for one will not complain. We left the Munster final behind us it was a game we could of easily winning. Tipp had the experience to finish it out. It's done better team won on the day. If Waterford had Paudie Mahony they would have every chance of turning Kilkenny over. But I just cant see it happening without him. Pinkie (Wexford) - Posts: 4100 - 31/07/2015 09:14:28 1761523 Link 0 |
Agree with you Pinkie, the Paudie Mahony loss will probably catch up with them in this game. Waterford have the ability to beat KK but the fact that KK will be aware of the Waterford threat means they will be well prepared for them. KK by 3 pts is my prediction. As unlikely as it is to happen, Hurling and GAA fans everywhere could do with a Galway v Waterford final. yew_tree (Mayo) - Posts: 11232 - 31/07/2015 11:41:23 1761604 Link 0 |
Looks like KK will be without J Tyrell,M Fennelly & R Power.Huge losses if comes to pass.Really think this a great oppurtunity for Waterford. The closer it gets the more optimistic i am for their chances.A full back line without JJ or Jackie??Fennelly is the main man in the middle.A huge driving force. If hes out its game on!! cuederocket (Dublin) - Posts: 5084 - 31/07/2015 11:43:54 1761607 Link 0 |
Totally agree cuederocket. Fennelly is a massive player for the Cats Ban (Westmeath) - Posts: 1415 - 31/07/2015 11:51:53 1761612 Link 0 |
It certainly helps Waterford a lot if the 3 Kilkenny lads are out but I think Kilkenny will win still but hopefully a Waterford and Galway win. Dubsfan28 (Dublin) - Posts: 2509 - 31/07/2015 11:57:19 1761620 Link 0 |
Yes ban,bar Tipp & cats fans,im sure most of hurling fans would like a Galway v Deise final.Galway have never beaten Waterford in the championship i think? What better time than a final.Lot of hurling to be played before this may come to pass. cuederocket (Dublin) - Posts: 5084 - 31/07/2015 12:06:40 1761626 Link 0 |
I think a Galway v Waterford final would be manna from heaven for both hurling and the GAA in general, Waterford with no All Ireland since 1959, and the perennial underachievers Galway with no All Ireland since 1988. Can Waterford beat Kilkenny though is the big question, if the same Waterford side that played the 2nd half against Dublin turns up, I think they have a chance, but if they start withdrawing most of their forwards like they did against Tipp, then they have no chance. As regards Galway v Tipp, yet again we sit here wondering which Galway will turn up on August the 16th, and were Galway that good against Cork, or were Cork that poor? As someone has already pointed out on here, it took Galway a long time to put away a poor Cork side, plus they conceded a huge score in 22 points. I think if Galway play with the same physicality that they showed against Cork, shoot a lot less wides, and don't concede more than one goal, they will win, but a lot of ifs there, so on the balance of probabilities you would have to give a hesitant vote to Tipperary. gilly0512 (Galway) - Posts: 1176 - 31/07/2015 18:58:52 1761826 Link 0 |
KK's injury list is growing; I'm beginning to wonder if Waterford are in with a great chance... festinog (Galway) - Posts: 3097 - 31/07/2015 19:32:09 1761840 Link 0 |
