Yes benny,it was ridiculous how no Cork player even hit Glynn a shoulder. The defence opened up like the red sea, similiar to how A Gleeson ran through unopposed v Cork last year.It is not what you expect at this level.Ive rarely(cant think of any)seen such poor defending from one of the top teams.Even Waterfords last goal v Cork in League final this year was far too easy.I think it was right of Shefflin to compare to N Hickey or JJ.Not a hope in hell any player would have been able to run 40 yards, lobbing a ball over a defenders head without so much as a shoulder. It was completely naive defending, and didnt send out the right message for remainder of game. cuederocket (Dublin) - Posts: 5084 - 27/07/2015 11:34:37 1759573 Link 0 |
All that you say is true CUEdrocket. I don't argue with that. However, Mark Ellis had the opportunity to pull Johnny Glynn to the ground. Should he have done that? Taken an early yellow card? was he naive in that sense? bennybunny (Cork) - Posts: 3917 - 27/07/2015 11:57:20 1759596 Link 0 |
Im not advocating pulling, dragging Oor chopping benny. No way should Glynn have been allowed lob a ball over the full backs head without getting hit a fair shoulder.Only 30 seconds into the game and Cork let him waltz through to score one of the easiest goals ive ever seen.Hindsight is great, but i thought the game was up for Cork already.1 minute in - game over. cuederocket (Dublin) - Posts: 5084 - 27/07/2015 12:48:28 1759642 Link 0 |
The one thing that bothers me is the sledging that is going on. It seems to me that Shanahan from Waterford was giving Rushe a fair bit if it and Rushe had enough of it and struck Shanahan on the side of the helmet. The strike was deserving of a red card, no doubt about that, but the sledging is not being dealt with by ANY referee in either hurling or football. That is my gripe currently! carlowman (Carlow) - Posts: 1821 - 27/07/2015 18:06:29 1759930 Link 0 |
Hurling referees are letting far too much go. And the GAA needs to get tough on all this fist pumping, taunting, some players jump up after winning a free like they had won the match. There is nothing sporting about some of those Waterford players, pulling around the head and neck area is completely out of order but should 1 of those players have been on the pitch after what happened in a club game recently and was highlighted in the media? I dont believe he should. Pinkie (Wexford) - Posts: 4100 - 29/07/2015 09:02:09 1760563 Link 0 |
The refs are not up to the job in my opinion.Granted it is a tough job and they don't have the benefit of replays on TV ( they should).I felt sorry for Rushe and Cahalane the last day. Condorman (Dublin) - Posts: 983 - 29/07/2015 15:07:43 1760861 Link 0 |
The panel went to town on Wexford for a few strokes in a certain game in 2013. Haven't really seen a big deal made of it since. I'd be more worried about the provocative attitudes that started it. Rushe was getting an awful time. It was a time bomb Doylerwex (Wexford) - Posts: 2713 - 30/07/2015 20:35:43 1761436 Link 0 |
