Only 4 of the 12 can realistically win it, so most of the rankings are unimportant.

Monaghan are yet to convince me in Croker. Tyrone will be delighted the be potentially playing them in the last 8

KYTitletown, if you want to WUM properly, you need to be a bit more subtle. There isn't a Kerryman on earth who ever believes his county is ranked #5.

Forget about the rankings , the serious stuff starts now
From what I saw Sunday in Clones --- completely different to the style played else where Monaghan / Donegal and even Tyrone with their defensive setups will be difficult nuts to crack
The most vulnerable team IMO are Mayo Sunday's win has done nothing for them and go back to last year with Roscommon and how Mayo struggled to win against a defensive setup team
I would be of the opinion that Donegal will beat Galway -- then we would have Mayo and I think Donegal will cause them all sorts of problems
I can't see A o S having a field day against the Magees or indeed C o Connor
Kerry will make the quarters and I could see Tyrone meeting them. If that happens it's a fifty fifty game where indeed Kerry could fail once again to beat Tyrone.
Monaghan have to win a big game in Croke park to convince me they can be serious challengers Slough again their defensive system won't be too easy overcome. The one concern I would have after Sunday was how much possession Donegal got in the second half and how Monaghan did not score in the last 23/25 minutes or so. I can't throw any light on Dublin v Cork as Cork are so unpredictable so Dublin for me which should leave them meeting either Donegal or Mayo
To be honest there is very little between about six teams , all on the day but do what we done Sunday( don't take your chances) and you will defiantly be gone

So Mayo and the Dubs skittle lower division opposition and are odds on, yet Kerry and Monaghan beat fellow Divisional competitors and are ranked lower. Tyrone who were relegated, beaten by another of the last 12 are ranked 4th. I think whoever cam up with the rankings had a few of those funny cigarettes. Dubs and Mayo may very well win it all but I'll reserve judgement until they play one of the top teams then we can say if eithers defense have fixed their previous failings.

The rankings however do highlight the importance of Div1 football with only Derry from last years Div1 bowing out thus far.

Maybe because you list Cork twice and Donegal and Tyrone above the actual Ulster Champions!

All provinces possibly should have an agreed seeding system. The Leinster approach is possibly the one for all to adopt. Munster and Connaught due to not having a full compliment of quarter-finals would want to apply the seeding to it's finalists. It can help Qualifier Round 1 to more or less have teams of a similar level. Each subsequent qualifier round should be an increase in standard. The A and B sides should have a more evenness of standard as a result of a uniform seeding system across all provinces. The championship's final 12 will then be a fairer reflection of the standard of all counties.
